It is no secret that the internet if full of strange, weird, and interesting sites. MSN has compiled the top ten most interesting/weird social networking sites available today. Take a look below, and maybe…just maybe one of these will appeal to you.
· Hamsterster: Do you adore and prize your household pet rodent more than anything else? If so, this is the site for you. On this hamster-friendly site, you can view pictures of other hamsters, ask questions, and just let others know how your beloved pet is doing these days. And they even have an online store that sells “I heart hamsters” stickers and pins.
· FarmersOnly: This is a dating site for those who are farmers and proud of it! MSN says this site is for “people whose lives revolve around the blue skies, not $4 cups of coffee”. The internet has seen a huge number of more niche types of dating sites; from websites for singles with herpes to celibates and Trekkies (those last two are unrelated, of course).
· ZiiTrend: Based on questions and predictions, this website is for those who just love to predict things. It is based on the belief that “if you average the uninformed opinions of a bunch of Average Joes, the collective judgment is remarkably accurate.”
· Lost Zombies: This strange network has more than 1,700 members who pretend they are one of three things: “zombie-hunting vigilantes, survivalists, and the undead themselves”. On Lost Zombies, you can look at pictures and videos, and look at mock radio broadcasts that demonstrate a “zombie outbreak”.
· Myrl: Virtual identities and avatars are so common, it would seem that they need a “common house”, if you will. Myrl provides a community for avatars. The human users can create profiles for their favorite avatars and list sites they and their avatars have really enjoyed exploring.
· My Free Implants: Apparently there are more women out there who want a breast augmentation surgery, but just can’t afford it. So what is a girl to do? Post scandalous pictures of yourself on this site and men begin to donate money to your surgery. After someone funds your implants, you send them monthly pictures of your new man-made body. This site has already raised over a million dollars for those women looking for surgical procedures. Sick and wrong? Yes, I think so. It seems like a breeding ground for perverts.
· Social Anxiety Friends: For those who can’t handle being around people and socializing, this site is meant to help people get over their social anxiety. Baby steps, I guess. MSN comments that some of their arcade games on the site are a little antisocial: “barbwire jump rope, ant burner, cubicle warfare, and one in which you feel babies to alligators”.
· Stache Passions: Yes, there is even a site for the admirer and wearer of the ‘stache. “The mustachioed members divided themselves according to the type of stache preferred (Pornstar, Fu Manchu, Dali), and post stache-related videos.” So, if you like a good ‘stache, this is the website for you.
· Beautiful People: This elite (or snobby and vain…however you look at it) website only lets fellow beautiful people become members. You are required to post several pictures of yourself, including full-body shots—of course, and let current members decide if you are beautiful enough to be numbered among them.
· Spot a Potty: First question that comes to mind is…why? But besides that, this website features pictures and addresses of just average toilets around the world. Not really sure what the point of this is, but apparently people are interested.
