Church of Scientology of London Hosts United Nations International Peace Day Celebration

Multi-faith, and multi-cultural “Peace through the Arts” at the London Church of Scientology Sept. 21.

The Church of Scientology London hosted an International Peace Day celebration on Monday, September 21, with representatives of many faiths, cultures and walks of life pledging to strive for peace on Earth.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a September 18 statement, “The International Day of Peace is a global call for cease-fire and non-violence. …There is another way; a better way–the path of peace.” Proclaimed in 1981 by the UN General Assembly, Peace Day is observed each year by millions internationally.

Diversity and creativity were the watchword of the celebration at the Scientology Church in London. An array of artists contributed to the Peace through the Arts event, with Sikhs, Muslims, Christians and Scientologists enjoying performances ranging from Arabic song and dance to hip-hop dancing to a child’s poem, “A War Orphan Writing to Santa Claus.”

Those attending the event at the Church of Scientology of London expressed their intent to extend the purpose of the International Day of Peace to counter violence not only among armed combatants but in day-to-day life as well, calling for non-violence in homes, communities and schools.

Tracey Coleman, Community Affairs Officer for the Church of Scientology London, said, “We are proud to host this celebration that brings together so many different cultures and faiths to celebrate what all of us want for this world–that all may live in harmony.” Ms. Coleman quoted Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard’s words: “On the day when we can fully trust each other, there will be peace on Earth.’”

The Church of Scientology of London is located at 146 Queen Victoria Street.  For more information visit www.scientology-london.org or contact Ms. Tracey Coleman at  (44)  07 9797 50293
