6 Easy Steps for E-newsletter Marketing

E-newsletter marketing is a new emerging trend that facilitates people in promoting their products/services regularly by sending newsletter through email. The aim behind the e-newsletter is to acquire new customers or persuade the existing customers to visit your site or buy your product. E-newsletter marketing is very cheap and has proven to be very successful for those who do it right.

With my past experience on working for email marketing campaign, I have listed some useful steps that can help you to execute this marketing technique in an effective manner. In order to perform this routine task every month, it is very important for the writer to subscribe e- newsletters of other company’s or organization’s (both for the related and unrelated products).

This will encourage them to generate new ideas and to keep a track on how people are marketing their products. To start with the campaign, keep in mind that people should only receive the newsletter once they have subscribed for it. They should not be surprised for receiving the content they have not asked for. Below are 6 simple steps that can help you in targeting your campaign in an effective manner.

1.Send your newsletter regularly
For a successful e-newsletter campaign, it is necessary to decide a time span after which you will be sending your newsletter. Targeting the e-newsletter once or twice a month is a preferable choice as it does not irritates the end user. Once you have decided the duration after which the newsletter will be send, make sure you meet the deadlines and deliver them on time.

2.Keep your audience in mind
It’s very necessary to see what your customer wants instead of barging them with the content that you want to present. Provide them information which is valuable, relevant and latest. When targeting an email marketing campaign for B2C, always keep your audience in mind. See what your customers are looking for, their buying preferences, their age, their profession, their knowledge and various other things. Other than introducing priced products in your newsletter, also include one or two free products. This will encourage the user to try your product and experience your website.

3.Choose a different topic every time
Topic is the basic concept of the newsletter on which the content or product is selected. For example if am working on a newsletter for an online shop of mobile application and games, I will try and pick a different topic/subject for every month (related to my offerings) to make my newsletter interesting and unique. It can range from popular categories like (Entertaining games, Office applications or Utility essentials) to general trends like (Travel season, Arrival of Spring) or it can also be based on special days or seasons like (Valentine’s Special, Easter and New Year).

4.Make your copy compelling
In order to turn your subscribers into potential buyers, make your copy compelling enough by immediately delivering your subject to the user. If you have some promotional campaign going on, highlight it in a prominent position. You can also provide tips, facts or some general information related to the chosen topic. If you have a new company blog or forum, don’t forget to utilize this opportunity to promote it.

5.Put extra effort in the design
With the influx of online sites, many users are frustrated with e-newsletters that fill up their inboxes. The only thing that can attract the user is the eye-catching design of the newsletter. To make designing simple and hassle free, decide on a specific format for the newsletter so that you don’t end up wasting your time, every month. Whether it is copy or graphics, your ultimate goal should be to convert your leads into sales.

6.Track your visitors
To keep a vigilant eye on the results obtained from your email marketing campaign, tracking is very important. Use Google analytics or other available tools that determine the number of users diverted to your site from the specific month’s newsletter. Also make sure that emails are not going in the user’s junk folders.

Include ‘unsubscribe’ option on the footer of the e-newsletter as the recipient reserves all the right to opt-out from what you are offering them.

Last but not the least always select the right title to market your newsletter. With so much clutter around us, people just take one second to decide from the title of the mail whether to check it or ignore it. To make your campaign worth while, try these above steps and derive maximum benefits through e-newsletter marketing.
