How To Hypnotize People Using 3 Simple Methods

Not too many people may be aware of this, but there are actually so many ways on how to hypnotize people. In fact, there are so many that it would be quite difficult to list all of them here. However, most of these methods actually demand long and tedious inductions to perform them successfully. This is also dependent on the suggestibility of the person that you are attempting to hypnotize. On the average, it would take 30 to 40 minutes for the person to relax and be suggestible to hypnotism.

It is a good thing, though, that there are several speed inductions that you can use so that you can learn how to hypnotize someone in just 4 minutes, or even less! Do not worry about the short length of time here for these methods are as effective as the ones that take longer. Here we will look at just a few fast methods on how to hypnotize people.

The Dave Elman Induction

This method is actually based on what are known as relaxation inductions. The traditional trance induction would have the patient relax his individual parts of the body. The Dave Elman Induction foregoes this. Rather, this induction focuses more on the eyes being relaxed. The eyes should also remain closed throughout the induction. Once the patient's eyes are relaxed, you should then instruct him to allow this state of relaxation to spread all over his body. Once this state is achieved, you should then count very slowly from 1 to 5 while pausing in between to tell him that he is gradually becoming more and more relaxed. When successfully performed, the Dave Elman Induction can produce a light trance and a state of catalepsy in just 4 minutes.

The Handshake Interrupt

Another common name for this method is instant hypnosis. However, this is not always the case at all. At best, you need roughly 1 to 2 minutes to build rapport and a state of suggestibility with the patient before you can start performing this method. Introduce yourself to the patient first. Smile and make yourself engaging by using body language. Second, offer your hand for a handshake. As the patient lifts his hand to meet yours, quickly grab it using your other hand then raise it right in front of his eyes. At this point, the patient would be in a momentary state of confusion as he processes the sudden flow of things, and this is the time you give out the command to "sleep". At best, experts can successfully hypnotize people in just 2 to 3 minutes.

Ericksonian Hypnosis

Another term for this is conversational or covert hypnosis. You do not need induction skills for this method at all. What you need are confusion techniques, subtle but embedded commands, and good storytelling skills. By engaging the patient in a conversation that instantly captivates him, you can hypnotize him within minutes. Because the patient is not aware of your intentions of hypnosis, he will be more suggestible, offering no resistance at all. This is also one of the more effective ways on how to hypnotize people.
