Getting confused? It is really tough to separate drug addiction treatment from the drug rehab program. In fact the treatment is the basic part of the rehab program. Yet why such perplexity then really crop up? The reason is simple.
Conventional treatment procedure
We often tend to think treatment in a confined manner. Visit a doctor's clinic, get the check up done, let the doctor prescribe you a few medicines and some diet etc and after a few days you start enjoying your normal life. It is a four-step process and you find the treatment to get over.
Another level of treatment is the hospitalization process where if something goes severely wrong you are admitted to the hospital and the treatment is done over there. But in all these treatment procedures the main concern is giving you a consistent physical aid for your cure. This is where the drug addiction treatment or drug rehab program differs from conventional methods of treatment.
Rehab provides real treatment
To cure a drug addict in some way or the other you will have to come to the shelter of a drug rehab center. It might happen that you don't require a package of a one-year long-term program. A short-term program of a month or two suffices your requirements. But the facilities a rehab center can provide can never be attained at individual treatment level.
The rehab program has a gamut of facilities to support the drug patient both at the physical and psychological stages. A particular order of treatment is also maintained here.
It begins with a detoxification process. The patient is given medicinal aid that can inhibit him from the consumption of drugs. At the same time these medicines will try to take his body system out of the ill effects of drugs over the time.
A parallel process of psychological boost is constantly provided. Different aspects of his life are recorded and his outbursts are brought out. This is not a typical stomachache or headache treatment. You swallow a pill and feel the relief within an hour. The reason behind such aches hardly carry any meaning unless they take a sever shape.
But in case of addiction treatment, the cause is the key to the solution. Without detecting the actual cause that can be any personal reason, a frustration to social insecurity or constant failures or an outcome of a bad company - these have to be brought forward. Importance is given to the family members' versions as well and they are also counseled. In the long run if they start dejecting this poor fellow, the entrapment is always ready to embrace and he can again turn out to be a drug addict.
All these are included in the drug addiction treatment and followed by the rehab program. Any more questions!

What to do with adult at home using drugs?
By: nanajanet | 18-09-2008
My friend asks me this....
y son is twenty years old and has been in serious trouble since he was fifteen. He is an alcoholic and drug addict. He lies, steals and does what he wants. He is currently on Probation for Unlawfull Use of a Weapon and Stealing. He called me homeless and needed a place to stay a few months ago. I agreed to let him come into my home. I set rules of no alcohol and no drugs. He has not followed them and I feel that i am being chased out of my own home. This will be the second time. He has started college and says he can use and be functioning. I am not so sure. I am afraid of him. He also has a warrant out for his arrest for assault. I love my son and have tremendous guilt over him but am afraid for my own life. What do I do?

How to live
By: rosycheeks9 | 13-09-2008
How to live with a functional subtype alcoholic? We have been married for 11 years and have been blessed with 4 beautiful children but that doesn't seem enough for him to hold it togeather. I have caringly expressed my concerns and he feels he dosen't have a problem and swears he only had 2 beers when 6 cans are on the counter. He told me at one point it was stress of the job not feelings of having to provide.

Writing it Down

The Modern Lily Tomlin

I’m waiting in a conference room that smells like the corner of career aspiration and stale office carpet. The overly heavy and overly bitter receptionist has a voice that is piercing through the makeshift conference room with walls that only go up about 7 feet. Like an annoying hiccup, she keeps repeating “Good morning, Hudson. Your name? Hold please.” Over and over again. She is an extra large version of what the rest of the world has automated already.
