One herb that has a high amount of omega-6 essential fatty acid as well as gamma-lineolic acid is evening primrose oil (Oenothera biennis L.). These active ingredients make it an excellent eczema natural treatment.

Eczema is a skin disorder characterized by red rashes appearing in patches anywhere in the body. Some types of eczema are caused by blood impurities, which in turn also causes blood clots. This is where using evening primrose oil as an eczema natural treatment can be beneficial. This herb effectively decreases the risk of blood clots and it does it by reducing the aggregation of the platelets in the blood.

But the more important thing that evening primrose brings to a person with eczema is a regular supply of essential fatty acids. Studies show that prostaglandin, which is a lipid compound, is a substance that governs a number of specific processes inside the body. One of the most important things that prostaglandin can manage is inflammation. Consequently, inflammation of the skin is the most fitting description of eczema.

But sadly though, prostaglandins are not kept in the body. Instead, they are being synthesized constantly from essential fatty acids or EFA. On the other hand, EFA can only be obtained from one's diet. This also means that people with eczema should make sure to eat foods that are rich in essential fatty acids so as to ensure that there is a good amount of protaglandins constantly in their body. The food considered being best sources of EFA's are seafood, flax, and evening primrose oils.

Evening primrose oil is supposed to be taken orally as it is mostly sold in an herbal supplement form like soft gels. And most of the time, the package that comes with it indicates the dosage that a certain person has to take. You can also get your supplies in a liquid form. And drinking a tablespoon each day helps a lot in putting eczema in check. It may also be combined with food so that it could be ingested properly.

Many people who place their faith in alternative medicine believe that evening primrose oil is a great eczema natural treatment. It is better to rely on natural solutions rather than depend on topical treatment and cream prescriptions. These prescriptions often have harmful side effects. You can purchase evening primrose oil at you local store or online at numerous herbal remedy stores.
