Shaving is a part of just about every man's and woman's daily routine, a dreaded part. Am I going to nick myself? How long will the irritation last this time? Shaving the night before to avoid a rashy red face. Pretty much every man that I know of shaves, and so razor burn can cause huge problem to many people (even women hate this as they get razor burn on their legs and I'm sure that has to be very uncomfortable to walk with and wear panty hose over).
To avoid this affliction, care should be taken to use the correct equipment and technique. Razor burn is a kind of burning sensation that you experience after shaving. This is caused by the razor removing the skins natural moisture and thusly causing irritation. This makes the skin very sensitive, dry, and sometimes inflamed. Shaving is a very unnatural and high friction process and if done incorrectly can quickly irritate your skin.
Sometimes razor burn can be very uncomfortable, and can cause visible rashes and bumps along the face and neck, or any other place that is shaved regularly (there are not any exceptions! So girls beware!). It can be both ugly and painful, in extreme cases it can even lead to scarring due to shaving off and nicking of the bumps and ingrown hairs that can result and this can be very painful and result in an inflammed condition similar to acne vulgaris in its most serious manifestations. People have been using different methods to cure razor burn for centuries.
In almost every case prevention is normally better than a cure, and razor burn is no exception to this. It is much easier and better to prevent razor burn than looking for a treatment after you have got it. After a hair has been shaved, it begins to grow back. When a razor edge harshly moves over the follicle of the hair, it gets broken and injured at the edges. Due to the dirt and other foreign bodies present at the base of the skin, infection of the follicle wound can take place causing itchy red rashes, which can even look like pimples.
These inflamed papules or pustules are the most irritating symptom of Razor burn, they are also quite disfiguring as it causes your skin to look red and blotchy. And with repeated daily shaving and irritation they can even mimic more severe cases of acne and have similar resultant scars. This does not need to happen and can be avoided.

Mystery Rash
By: Bunni | 20-07-2008
How is my skin rash related to an unwashed new bathing suit? I wore a suit to the beach 3 days ago that was purchased a while ago, but still had the tags on it. In my haste to dress quickly for the beach, as it was a last minute decision after work, I didn't think, or remember to check for the protection shield in the suit. After walking along the shallow water for approximately 1 hour, we sat for an addtional hour to read. I never went into the water to swim, because of a warning posted for jelly fish etc. But, having said earlier the suit was unwashed, I thought maybe this caused a rash that followed. It is bumpy and each day the bumps get larger in size, from pea to nickel, actually some are now quarter sized in 2 days. Benadryl is helping with the sting/itch, but the reason is still unknown. I've been the the urgent care facility of a very good hospital in my community, and of course this was after showering, and a benadryl capsule, plus a nice layer of caladryl lotion. So by the time it was my turn to see the doctor, they were fading and they felt worse than they looked. She, (The doc) told me to continue with Benadryl, and the lotion, and see my regular doctor. I was just to him last week, as I'm also diabetic. We thought maybe it was the Metformin 500 mg I'm taking for my Diabetes. But she said it wasn't related, since I just took one and this is a new medicine I just started taking. It would have already been out of my system within the timeframe of the rash appearing. I haven't taken any more, and I have a worse rash now. I will see my regular doctor on Monday, to get his opinion. I am still asking everyone who reads this post, to add their feedback/opinion as to what may have caused me to break out in a rash. I haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary, since I must stay on a specific diet to manage my diabetes. Thank you All for taking the time to read this. Also, I know that not washing the suit isn't a good idea. But, in my defense I am usually careful to wash anything new first, just in case it was tried on but someone with poor hygiene. Now, I'm worried I may have picked up something from wearing the suit in the heat. I can't believe I actually put it on with the protection shield in place. I am sick at the thought of doing this. Next time, I'll dress more slowly and plan in advance to go to the beach. Anyone every heard getting a rash under these circumstances, or can you think of any other reason for this itchy rash that is mostly and my sides up to my underarms, and between my thighs, and now moving to both hands. A few itchy bumps appeared this morning on my ring fingers.

Dosage for namenda
By: Peter | 16-07-2008
husband has been put on Namenda 5 mg P.O. BID - has dimentia, currently taking aricept 10 mg per day - Dr advised adding the namenda to his aricept to help with the dimentia. I am reading that the dosing instrctions from the internet stating 5 mg tab every day for one week, followed by 5 mg morning and one at night the second week, then 10 mg every morning then 5 mg tab night for the third week, 10 mg tab every morning and night for the 4th week and afterwards - yet prescription given to us yesterday states 5 mg P.O. BID with (#60 tabliets) meaning we get 60 tabs each month. My question is as follows - with the sixty @ 5 mg each tab does that mean he will take 2 tabs each day which would equate to 60 tabs - I am confused
