How to Get New Ideas for you Non-fiction Story?

Imagine the next time you join a discussion about non-fiction writing. When you start sharing the fascinating non-fiction writing facts that it is never easy to write non-fiction story, and your friends will be absolutely amazed on what you have told them. The best time to learn about non-fiction writing is before you're in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable non-fiction writing experience while it's still free. As an author, we are all know that there is a big different between writing fiction and non-fiction. Writing fiction is probably the easiest writing because you can write based on any thing that comes from your imagination and there is no need to proof or verify the story against the fact. Vice versa, non-fiction need time and dedication to write as it’s requires proof and verify against the fact and sometime the check with other reference materials.

However, sometimes non-fiction stories based on research, interviews, experiences and opinion. Sometimes you may find an excellent theme of your new non-fiction by looking around you home or from your favourite book store, then you can see a writing opportunity on book shelf. Also picking some plot story from local daily newspaper or article new stories. Perhaps your new idea of new story from those information sources.

Magazines are also the best information source to have new ideas. I personally have subscribed to almost 20 magazines. They are mix of topics of magazines, which are vary form professional magazines, for example "The Writer," "Saveur" and "Society of Professional Journalists".

Not only professional magazines that you have to looking for as an information source, some other kind of magazine are also interesting, actually more interesting in my point of view, they are magazines for hobbies and fun such as "Disney's Adventures" and "YM," "Family Handyman," Golf Digest," "AARP," and "Money." These are all national magazines, cream of the crop and are harder to break into than smaller markets.

Travel around is also a god opportunity to get new ideas, no matter it is a short plane trip or long vacation like you have to take a flight across the country. You may have opportunity to see new things and take some notes then you can use it when you back home. Getting some new ideas from travel magazines or travel brochures and publications from airport stand or in a hotel also possible. The benefit of getting new ideas from these kind of publication is they are available for free, you do not to buy or subscribe like any other publication.

Good non-fiction writers has habit to always collect publication whenever they have a chance and they can even develop the idea and write story when they are at the location of travel and this is a very good example of what good writers should have.

So far, we've uncovered some interesting facts about non-fiction writing. You may decide that the following information is even more interesting. If you've picked some pointers about non-fiction writing that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You won't really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge if you don't use it.
