Nature gives us numerous things. So much that we can’t count them. Most importantly, it gives us life. Without nature, I wouldn’t be here to write this article and you wouldn’t be here to read it.
Do you appreciate nature? Have you ever? People give excuses. Sometimes, they would give so many that I wonder if they have excuse-generating machines in their heads. The common one is “I don’t have time.” I’m sure that they have the time to sit in front of the TV. Anyway, what do we give back to nature? Most of us don’t give anything back, we cut it down, and we destroy it. The silliest part of this is that we’re destroying something, which gives us life, so in other words, we’re cutting down on our longevity too or you could say we’re making life shorter. Some of us were so inconsiderate and cut down trees. Result- we don’t have enough of them now. There should be a balance. We could cut down trees and plant just as many. The problem is, we cutting down too many and planting too few. The consequences are very severe.
Mother Earth is crying.Nature is begging for our help. We have to pay a price for all the harm that we’ve caused them. Thus, there is a situation called global warming in which the Earth is in. This is not only caused by cutting down trees, but also because of other reasons such as greenhouse gas emissions. We can help the situation, though. It is now! The time to change our lifestyle for the better of humanity. Look, we’re actually saving ourselves from perishing on planet Earth. Simple day-to-day activities such as switching of lights and fans when not in use and using energy efficient light bulbs contribute positively to remedy the situation.
The Earth is traumatized and we’re going to try our best to heal it. Did you know that every electrical application that is not switched off when not in use costs you an additional $70 a year? Practicing these eco-friendly habits are very easy and you will be able to save some extra bucks along the way.
Get a plant from the plant nursery or create a simple garden in your backyard. If you’re working and have no time to water the plants, you could get the water absorbent gels from your nearest nursery. It you are using the gels, I recommend you to place your plants in glass pots. This will make your plant look elegant and this serves as a good interior decoration material. Just one plant, it will make a difference. Some eco-friendly tips coming below.
- If you drive a car, I would definitely advise you to get the GPS. The car would be producing much more greenhouse gases when you are lost rather than when you know the way not to mention the fuel and time wasted.
- You could organize a carpool with others if you are travelling to the same destination everyday (maybe for work reasons) and this means a lot of saving!
- Start a small compost pit with your friends in the backyard. Just dig out a rectangular hole in the soil, place your food scraps, dried leaves, pet’s poo and other biodegradable stuff, and cover it with a thin layer of soil. Turn it over every two weeks it looks something like soil. You have your very own eco-friendly, natural fertilizer for your garden.
- Schools could start competitions such as “The Best Green Idea” or “The Most Eco-Friendly Student” to increase the awareness of this subject. They could also start eco-gardens.
Try these tips. You’ll be having fun and you’ll become eco-friendly at the same time.
Until then,
Be eco-friendly, Stay eco-friendly,
