Do you know that in the U.S alone 8 to 12 million people are suffering from PAD, more commonly known as poor circulation. The scary thing is that each year these numbers seem to be steadily increasing because of peoples life style. Smoking, junk food, obesity and lack of activity are just some of the factors contributing to poor circulation. If not treated bad circulation can lead to serious conditions such as; heart attacks, stroke, amputation and in worst case, death.
If you are living with any of these risk factors and are over the age of 50, you should see a doctor for examination if you are suffering from any of the following symptoms: Cramping or fatigue in the legs, buttocks or feet during activity.
Cramping or pain in your legs while sitting for long periods of time.
Your legs and/or feet "fall asleep" while sitting or sleeping.
Tired, aching feet, or swelling of the feet and legs.
Lower temperature in the legs and feet compared with the rest of the body.
The biggest effect that can come about as a result of poor circulation in the legs and feet is that sores and injuries don't heal as fast as they used to, and in some cases they will not heal at all without special care. The reason for this is the blood carries oxygen and other vital elements the body tissues need for healing and vitality. Without good circulation carrying blood and nutrients to the lower extremities, healing time is greatly extended.
For example Cellulitis. Cellulitis is a spreading bacterial infection of the skin and tissues just below the skin caused by Streptococcus and Staphylococcus bacteria. It can surface as a result of a cut or sore on the feet or legs, but can also occur on healthy tissue. Cellulitis can take more than 10 days to heal with good, healthy, tissue. In the presence of poor circulation, it might take weeks, even with special care.
Some other complications bad circulation can cause are gangrene that can lead to amputation of a foot or leg, or a blood clot also known as Deep Vein Thrombosis, DVT. The effects of gangrene and amputation are obvious, but DVT or blood clots can also lead to serious illness and death. If a blood clot dislodges from the vein, pieces of it can travel through the circulatory system and reach the heart where it can clog the valves of the heart and cause a heart attack.
These are just a few of the effects that can be caused by poor circulation and as you can see it can become quite serious. With a little bit of knowledge, bad circulation can easily be prevented and/or treated but if you feel you are at risk you should see a doctor as soon as possible. If your condition has not got to bad you can treat bad circulation on your own and if your way of living is not the healthiest you should take measures to prevent this condition.

I have recently injured my ankle, i twisted it ...
By: SUETHEHOGG | 18-10-2007
I have recently injured my ankle, i twisted it resulting in me spraining it and damaging the ligaments. When i done it my foot was very cold and was numb. Since this i have my foot has been cold and taking a long time to warm up. Can you tell me if it is anything to do with my injury or is it just bad circulation in my foot.
What is causing my bad circulation and how should I fix it??
By: yourfavorite24 | 16-10-2007
I am small (4'9, 95lbs) and I have really bad circulation. I am not a health freak, but I am not unhealthy, and I do not have high blood pressure. However, I cannot sleep through the night without either an arm or leg, or sometimes more than one limb, falling asleep. I often wake up in the middle of my sleep and have to move the lifeless limb. I can't sit still during the day, and I can't be positioned certain ways when I try to relax, because I know I will lose circulation. When I have to get blood taken, I pass out because I can feel the blood being taken from me, and it leaves me very weak, and often takes minutes to an hour for my body to recover (and for me to feel the blood in me again). But I am still left weak for the rest of the day. I am only 21. What is wrong with me?
What is this itchy warty substance? please help?
By: jenny626 | 09-10-2007
hi i can not find any information the i need anywhere. I was diagonsed with genital warts three years ago and my warts resembled the tradiontal cauliflower look located at the vaginal entrance. after many times of going back and forth to the doctors over years i must say i finally was wart free. Now recently i have noticed myself to be ithcy in the groin area and have notcied almost invincible bumps, but because im so paranoid about geting warts and passing this on i am always keeping an eye on myself and any changes. They are skin coloured tiny little bumps maybe one to four or more spread around my labia not near my vagina entrance, there was one even in my pubic area. they do not resemble the warts i had previously but the itching is very similar. When i scratch these bumps a white hard structure comes out of them, small little oval white shaped cell like patterns combined into one which to me sort of resembles a wart like core. Its definatly a core and its not soft and pusy like a pimple it is like little white balls joined together tightly compacted and firm.... when i have scraped this out the wound bleeds imensley and i itch and im finding more are coming up. im so unsure what this is. the doc says no to std but why is my crutch so dam itchy and what is the hard white warty core stuff i cant find an answer anywhere. people may say molluscum how ever you spell that but what i have does not seem to look like any of these pictures of molluscum i have researched. and the substance does not smell and is not soft. Do genital warts even have a white core? And can they even be popped or scraped , torn off i more should say? i fear to have sex because i would never want someone to go through what i went though earlier if this is the STD back again. i just want answers and and itch bump free crotch! please help me. i want to know what this is its driving me crazy and seems unusual. Cheers please help me i jave done my best to descrobe this as best as i can.
