Everyone knows that to maintain optimum health we all need a certain level of exercise. The benefits that can be derived from a moderate and consistent work out regiment are numerous. Cardio vascular exercise is an absolute requirement for maintaining the health of your heart and lungs. A consistent exercise program will also help you control your weight whether you need to lose weight or just want to maintain your current healthy weight. Exercise will also have a beneficial effect on your cholesterol levels, blood pressure and aid your body's control of your insulin levels.

Walking on a regular basis is an excellent way to get a good moderate cardio work out to help you maintain your health. By walking you will be working out your heart, lungs and all of your major muscle groups. Many people have trouble maintaining a daily or even regular routine of walking for many reasons. For a lot of people a treadmill is a great tool to help them with this problem.

For many people there are a lot of things that will hold them back from taking regular walks. In many areas the weather is only suitable for a pleasant walk a small percentage of the year. The rest of the time you would have to deal with some sort of unpleasant weather that will make your walk anything from unpleasant to possibly dangerous.

Rain, snow, sleet and wind can all make for a less than pleasant walk. Extreme heat and cold however can actually make walking dangerous, with extreme heat probably being the most hazardous condition.

Using a treadmill to do your walking will solve that problem along with many others. When you use a treadmill you get your exercise right in the comfort of your own home, there is never any worries about inclement weather conditions or even unsafe streets, which is an issue in many areas.

For many people walking can be rather boring, unless you live in a place with a highly stimulating scenery walking will quickly lose any mental stimulation. You will soon be bored with walking the same streets and passing by the same houses and trees day after day. With a treadmill you can do something else to help entertain you or even stimulate your mind while you walk. You can set your treadmill up so that you can watch television while you exercise, or simply listen to music. If you want something a little more mentally stimulating you can even read a book while you use your treadmill.

There is another even more beneficial advantage to using a treadmill. With a treadmill it is far easier to control the level and difficulty of your work out. If you are simply walking outside it is difficult to control your pace to make sure that you are getting adequate exercise. If you are having a day where you are feeling a little less energetic than usual you will most likely slacken your pace with out even realizing it. With a treadmill though you can set it to the same speed that you use every day and you have to maintain your pace to keep up.

Frequent exercise is necessary to maintain good health, a treadmill is one of many tools that you can use to assist you with your exercise program.

VERY frustrated, at my wits end about my health
By: Tracie Szakal | 02-10-2008
Hello, New to the forum. My name is Tracie and I'm 35 years old, female with 4 kids, had a tubal. I first want to say, been to several doctors, they are stumped. Put me on Paxil and Librium because they say I have anxiety BUT what is causeing this anxiety?   Here's what my symptoms are:-Swollen lymph nodes in the neck I can feel (esp the back left side)-Fast heart beat with palpitations when I panic - sensations like someone is spreading icy hot on my body especially my arms. legs, back and chest-shakes and dizziness and little nausea. Nausea isn't bad.-feels like I have low blood sugar but I eat small meals every 3-4 hours and been tested for diabetes, the A1C (sp?) is 5.9-lips and nose go numb when I have panic-I want to jump out of my skin and run away sometimes-EXTREMELY gassy (both ends) causes discomfort and chest pain*   *seen the Cardiologist, one of the best in Michigan, Dr. Grines, and she gave me the Stress Test with Contrast Imaging and no blockages and she gave me a clean bill of "cardiac" health.   -My lower abdoman is tender near my ovaries (had a Uterine Ablasion last Nov.) for HEAVY bleeding   -My breasts are VERY tender a week before my period (hard to hug kids, feels like rocks in them or like they were when I was engorged...just THAT sensation)and I leak breast milk or milky discharge out my left breast the other one leaks clear very little (which my gyno is aware of)(she told me NOT to stimulate my breasts) One month it looked brownish in 1 duct. Now it's whitish with a slight yellow tinge.   I have 4 kids, nursed them all at least 8-9 months as babies. I have Hypothyroidism, and been on several antidepressants in my lifetime and weaned off Xanax last week and was put on Librium. The chest pains are, I'm told, gas related and panic. Frankly, I am tired of feeling like this. It's like a monkey on your back, a VERY annoying monkey I might add. I find life very hard, especially that week before my period. I have high chloresteral BEFORE taking Zocor, it's 170 now with the good chloresteral being 46   To describe me right now, which prompted me to write this topic is that I am panicky, breasts sore, sore neck but not like a sore throat. I feel shaky, a little feverish but no fever, under my arm pits are tender and I am losing my hair in clumps. I am tired of the thinning hair over the years. I can't function and my kids NEED me, my husband needs me. My kids are 13, 12, 11 and 9 years old.  I take:Lexoxyl (.125 mcg)Paxil (20 mg)Libruim (5 mg) when needed (before period need more like every 3-4 hours)Chromium Picolinate (1 day)Omega 3 (3 a day)Webozyms (3 a day)Zocor (20 mg) at 5 pmDetrol LA (4 mg)Ambian CR (12.5 mg) nightlyColace (3 a night)Acidolphlis Pearls (1 a night)Pepcid AC (when needed)Calcium Viactiv Glides (at night so not to interact with thyroid)   I am absolutely going crazy here because the doctors can't find anything, meaning from the blood tests they have taken. Maybe they are missing something, or not taking the RIGHT tests??? I was also checked for Celiac Sprue, because some tests were elevated but the gastrointologist rechecked me and told me I didn't have this. But he also was frustrated with my anxiety as I ask to be knocked out when they do the biopsy. He decided I didn't "NEED" the biopsy!!! I am a basket case and yes, I am a nervous person by nature, but I also NEVER been this bad... EVER!!! 4 months of HELL!!! I need guidance and a new doctor. Something isn't right, my whole body is telling me this and doctors aren't taking me seriously. My quality of life is WAY DOWN!Thank you so much for any replies or suggestions!Tracie SzakalDocTracie2@aol.com

I’m waiting in a conference room that smells like the corner of career aspiration and stale office carpet. Like an annoying hiccup, she keeps repeating “Good morning, Hudson. Your name? Hold please.” Over and over again. She is an extra large version of what the rest of the world has automated already.
