The Fastest Growing Jobs Available With a High School Diploma or GED

It is very important that you complete your high school education and get your diploma. The importance of having a high school diploma is immense. It enhances your chances of getting better paid jobs. There are various methods of completing your high school education; you can either attend traditional high school, or enroll for an online high school diploma course. Either way you will have your high school diploma or a GED in hand.

There are a number of jobs available to you once you complete your high school education. Apart from a high school diploma, the main requirements for these jobs are work experience and on-the-job training. According to the U.S. Bureau of labor statistics, the following 10 fields offer the fastest growth in job opportunities, which will continue to grow through to the year 2014.

. Home Health Attendant- Home health attendants provide services and assistance to the elderly and those suffering from disabilities like blindness or paralysis, which force them to live at home. Employment opportunities for home health attendants are expected to increase by 56% by the year 2014. The average wage of a home health attendant was more than $10 per hour in the year 2004.

. Medical Assistant- The duties that medical assistants carry out are administrative in nature in the offices of physicians. If individual states permit it, the can also perform some types of clinical duties. The job opportunities in this field are projected to increase by 52% between 2004 and 2014. The average hourly wage was $12 in the year 2004.

. Dental Assistant- The duties of dental assistants include laboratory work, patient care, and administrative care. It is expected that the growth prospects of employment opportunities for dental assistants will increase by 43% by 2014, with the average wage being $13.62 per hour currently.

. Personal and Home Care Attendants- These attendants basically provide routine care and housekeeping services to the ailing and elderly who are confined to their homes. They got an average wage of $8.12 in the year 2004, and their employment rate is expected to grow by 41% by the year 2014.

. Assistant to Physical Therapists- The assistants to physical therapists help in keeping the treatment area clean and prepare for each patients therapy session. They also assist in transporting patients to or from the areas where they get their treatment. Employment in this field is expected to increase by 34% by the year 2014, and the average hourly wage in the year 2004 was $10.28.

. Hazardous Material Remover- This is a dangerous job and hence pays the most, and therefore is at the top of the list as far as wages are concerned. The average hourly wage in the year 2004 was $16.02. The employment opportunities for this job are expected to increase by 31% by the year 2014.

. Social Service Assistant- A social service worker is a broad term that includes jobs like human service workers, social work assistants, mental heath assistants, community support workers, gerontology helpers, counselors in life skills, and so on. A social service assistant earned $11.89 per hour in the year 2004, and the employment opportunities are expected to increase by 30% by the year 2014.

. Residential Advisor- They coordinate the activities of students living in fraternity houses or campuses. Their average wage in the year 2004 was $10.47 per hour, and their employment opportunities are expected to increase by 29% by the year 2014

. Pharmacy Technician- They assist pharmacists by counting tablets, labeling medicine bottles, and carry out other routine duties. Their wages per hour in the year 2004 was $11.37, and there is an expected growth of employment by 29% by 2014.

. Ambulance Driver and Attendant- They are not to be confused with Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). These are the people who drive the ambulances and help in transporting patients to the hospital. They were paid an average wage of $9.31 per hour in the year 2004, and their employment is projected to increase by 29% by the year 2014.

The rise in these jobs is picking up at a fast pace, and they are in great demand. It is essential to complete your basic high school education or GED to be eligible for these jobs.
