Treating Tartar And Plaque Problems

Beautiful teeth creates beautiful smile. Keeping the teeth clean from tartar and plaque is very important for oral hygiene. Plaque, that resides in your teeth is a thin film of living and dead bacteria. This thin film needs to be continually removed. If this is allowed to stay, it hardens within 48 hours. It becomes rock solid after 12 days to be known as tartar.

Tips to have Tartar and Plaque free teeth

• The best home remedy is to brush your teeth diligently. This helps in removing the plaque stuck in your teeth.

• Teeth in the back also need some attention. As it is one of the favorite places for tartar to exist.

• Make it a habit to brush your teeth every night.

• Try to brush for more than about 2 to 4 minutes.

• Your brush should have a small head as it is much easier to reach the difficult areas.

• Use baking soda and a pinch of salt mixture as your paste.

• After every meal clear the content from your mouth with mouthful of water.

• Use soft and rounded bristles as it does not cause harm to your gums but is very effective in removing the bacteria.

• Change your brush every three months.

• You can make home-made lemon mouthwash which requires 1 cup water, 1/2 cup soda, 4 teaspoon vegetable glycerin, 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel and 10 drops of lemon essential oil. Mix these ingredients together, store them and use it daily to have clean set of teeth.

• Use your brush like a pen to reach the affected areas in order to clear the bacteria.

• Try to floss daily as it keeps your teeth free from plaque and bacteria.

• Avoid starchy, refined and sweet food.

• Avoid aerated drinks as they make the teeth weak.

• Avoid smoking too as it stains your teeth and damages your mouth too.

• If you have a sweet tooth, chew on a sugar-free gum after your meal.

• Clean your tongue by brushing or using a tongue scraper, this helps in alleviating the problem.

• An ayurvedic combination consisting two parts of powdered potassium alum and one part of powdered salt is very useful to minimize tartar and plaque.

• Prickly ash bark is widely used as a toothpowder.

• Tea tree oil helps in circulation and also kills germs.

• Ash of the calyx of the eggplant is very useful in treating toothaches and other gum disorders.
