Vehicle donations holding steady with slumping economy

With the economy hurting in a big way as of late, many have wondered just how charities like Goodwill Industries are going to survive the trying times. For these companies, though, the bad economy has been more of an opportunity than a challenge. There are now more people than ever to help, and that’s why Goodwill Industries is grateful that people are still happy to donate a car to charity.

You might have expected the down economy to cause a dip in the number of cars donated, but the numbers seem to be holding steady so far and people seem just as willing to donate a car to charity as they have ever been. The reasons for this are many, and most of them are speculative. Those in charge at Goodwill have indicated that the relative holding pattern might be because of the tax advantages that can be gained when you donate a car to charity. Whatever the case, the Goodwill Industries chapters around Washington, D.C. are glad that they are still able to do good works in the community with the help of the donation program.

The need still exists for more vehicle donations, and folks are even taking to the idea of donating other things, as well. The computer reclamation effort around D.C. has been extraordinary in the last year, and more folks are opting to donate boats when they might have otherwise chosen to donate a car to charity. These donations are helping push the charity effort forward, and they are enabling Goodwill and other charities to help out the community in this most trying of times.

The reasons to donate a car to charity, whether that car is old or somewhat new, are many. This is what people all over D.C. and all over the United States have realized, and they are helping fight the good fight with their continued charitable deeds.
