Acai Berry - The Basics

Acai berry is considered “Superfood” because of its natural ingredients and various health benefits. While this amazing fruit has been in the market for quite some time now, many people are just hearing about it for the first time. If you want to know what the acai berry is all about, continue reading.

The acai berry fruit can only be seen in the Amazon basin in the Southern part of America. Locals have been familiar with the fruit for many centuries now and it has been widely popular to them because of its good health benefits and healing capabilities. However, the majority of the rest of the world is just hearing about the acai berry for the first time. This is because many researchers are saying it has extraordinary healing properties.

One of the many reasons why acai berry was not well known to other parts of the world is because the fruit perishes not long after being harvested, hence the reason for the lack of exportation. However, modern technology has found a solution to preserve the powerful element of the fruit. Better harvesting techniques were used along with flash freezing and pasteurizing. These methods have preserved the nutrients and vitamins found in the acai fruit in the form of acai berry juice and other food supplements. Nowadays, acai berry supplement is very common and popular in thousands of health stores all over the world and they come in the form of powders, extracts, pills, and others.

Initial researches about acai berry stated that this supplement has a powerful anti-aging effect and is effective for weight loss. It can also help one's cardiovascular system. Generally, berries are very good for the human body. An acai berry supplement contains essential fatty acids, vitamins, antioxidants, and dietary fibers. It can also lower the cholesterol and help maintain a good and healthy heart.

The antioxidant contents of acai help in regulating the cardiovascular system by cleansing the blood and lowering the cholesterol found in the body. It is packed with anthocyanins and phytonutrients. Antioxidants can also help protect the human body from early deterioration and other damages caused by pollutions and unhealthy foods. Our body tends to produce oxygen free radicals that can damage and destroy the cells; antioxidants can help fight those damaging effects and delays the aging process.

Saturated fats and oxygen free radicals can develop into plaques that form in the walls of the artery that block the blood flow. These plaques can cause the blood flow to stop and can result to stroke and heart attack. In the United States alone, there are about 75,000 people that suffer from strokes and heart attacks each year, and about 1/3 of them dies. The acai berry supplement can help avoid the development of plaques in the arterial walls, thus improving the cardiovascular flow. This is very helpful in avoiding the development of CVA and heart attacks.
