Bee Pollen In Tea - Will It Cure Your Ailments?

Posted: Oct 03, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

You can use bee pollen in tea to add flavor or to enhance the nutritional value of your favorite herbal teas. You can also find teas that contain the ground granules either alone or combined with herbs. Companies claim that a variety of health benefits associated with those products. Are the claims true?

If the claims are true, then the products you see on the internet and in your local health food store will:
* Enhance your energy levels
* Prevent hay fever
* Prevent respiratory infections
* Combat age-related memory loss
* Help with endocrine disorders
* Relieve colitis
* Help you lose weight
* Reduce food cravings
* Reshape your body
* Treat depression
* Improve your immune system strength

The list goes on and on. When too many benefits are attributed to a single supplement you have to wonder if any of them are true. If some are true, the question becomes which ones?

Since the ones listed above are some of the most frequently mentioned, let's take a look at each one individually.

Increasing your nutritional intake, along with consumption of carbohydrates can increase your energy levels naturally.

If you use bee pollen in tea, the boost to your energy might be from caffeine or from other ingredients in the combined formulas. If you want to be sure that the energy boost is coming from the right source, well-designed supplements containing the pollens are the best choice.

The better supplement companies do not say that their products will prevent hay fever. There is a slight possibility that those with allergy-related hay fever could see some improvement by consuming small quantities of local pollens. But the supplements or the teas you order on the internet are not going to contain anything local. If you have allergies, there is a chance that the pollens could send you to the hospital.

There is no evidence that the bee pollen in tea can prevent respiratory infections, improve your memory, enhance your endocrine system or relieve colitis. There is good evidence that the well-designed supplements can help you lose weight and reduce any food cravings you might have. Nothing will reshape your body except healthy diet and exercise.

There are better alternatives for naturally treating depression. That's a subject I won't even try to cover here.

As far as your immune system strength goes, using bee pollen in tea is probably not going to help you do that. But a well-designed multi-ingredient supplement could.
