Chew Your Food Well For Fat Loss-Timeless Diet Advice From Your Mother

Every few months, someone releases a scientific study that sheds some light on the difference between the eating habits of thin people and heavy people. Each time one of these is released, one of the points made seems to be this great revelation that can be part of the miracle of fat loss, namely: Chew Your Food Slowly. But didn't your mother tell you this over and over when you were a child and first learning how to eat?

Yes she did. You should have listened to her!

Every study that has been done comparing the eating habits of thin people versus overweight people draws the same conclusions, that overweight people have bad eating behaviors and didn't listen to their mom. Or, they just completely forgot the advice mom gave them.

Overweight people, for the most part, tend to:

Eat faster
Put more food in their mouth at once
Chew their food less before they swallow

Thin people, for the most part, tend to:

Eat slower
Put less food in their mouth at once
Chew their food more

What does this mean to you and your weight loss goals? Well, this is one of those "lifestyle change" moments that everyone talks about. Just changing the WAY you eat, which really is just a minor shift, can make a big difference in your overall health. The bottom line is this:

The more time you take to consume your meal, the less calories you are likely to consume.

It's really that simple. If you eat slower, you will find yourself feeling full faster than if you eat fast. The main reason for this is that the full feeling signal your stomach sends to your brain has a delay built in. If you eat too fast, when your stomach finally gets around to sending that signal to the brain, you are overloaded.

Here is even more good news! There are foods that actually make you feel fuller faster. Some of these foods include:

Chick Peas
Broccoli
Peas
Red beans
Raspberries
Green beans

If you don't like any of the above foods, you also have the option of choosing foods that will force you to chew slower, thereby slowing down the whole eating process, and once again, helping you to lose weight over time. These foods include:

Tomatoes
Apples
Lean Meats
Peaches
Pears
Cabbage
Artichokes
Salad Vegetables and Greens
Celery
Cucumber
Okra

As you can see, your mom was right. If you chew your food slowly and slow down the whole eating process, you will find yourself one step closer to your weight loss goals. Amazingly, mom was giving you diet advice even when you were a toddler.
