Co-Enzyme Q10 and Weight Loss

Co-enzyme q10 is an antioxidant nutrient that is found in every cell. It helps the body produce energy within that cell, being a coenzyme for several mitochondrial enzymes. The mitochondria are where cellular energy production takes place. Unfortunately, like many of the things our bodies need to maintain top shape, it's made less as we grow older. For this reason, many people choose to take Coq10 supplements, although it is also found in food.

Antioxidant nutrient co-enzyme q10 is found in each and every cell of the body. With the help of this antioxidant the body can produce energy within same cell as this enzyme is a co-enzyme for several other mitochondrial enzymes. The basis of cellular energy is mitochondria. This supplement is amongst most essential supplements required by the body so as to maintain shape. People usually take these supplements in diet plans so as to cater to the needs of the body.

Also known as ubiquinone or simply Vitamin Q, Coenzyme Q10 is a lipid type structure with vitamin like activity. It is found naturally in all human cells and is responsible for the cells energy production. It has long been hailed as being beneficial in raising energy levels, but its effects on weight loss are less known.

Liver, heart, kidney and organ meats are regarded as the best food sources of co-enzyme q10. This supplement is also found in beef, egg, pork, mackerel and lamb. Co-enzyme supplement is also found in broccoli, spinach, wheat germ and peanuts so vegetarians need not to worry. Even if small amounts of this supplement is available but the quality of food is something you must be careful about. Co-enzyme q10 rich foods must be grown in completely pollution free environment and must be unprocessed. Usually organic foods are preferred for intake of this supplement.

How does Coenzyme Q10 Work?

Co Q10 (Co-Enzyme Q10) exists throughout the human body, aiding metabolic reactions such as the transformation of food into ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate), the energy on which body runs. ATP cannot be produced without Coenzyme. The part of cells where energy is produced is known as Cell mitochondria contain the greatest concentration of Co Q 10. Heart and liver also contain concentrations. If you are having periodontal disease you may take advantage by adding CoQ10 to your diet. Clinical Studies have shown that extra energy may be required to treat gum tissues. Coenzyme Q-10 (CoQ10)is the best supplement to provide you that added boost.

There are quite a few other areas that co-enzyme q10 is useful in. These include:

* weight loss

* high blood pressure

* multiple sclerosis

* chronic fatigue

* diabetes

* muscular dystrophy

* muscle weakness

The good news is that if you are in fact deficient in co-enzyme q10, then taking a supplement will help you lose twice as much weight compared to those who don't have a deficiency. But the key is, of course, that you must have a deficiency in the first place! Try and be objective, if you're interested in exploring whether this is for you. And don't think that it takes the place of exercise, or eating properly.

Chromium

By: naturalremedies | 01/06/2009 | Alternative Medicine
Chromium is an essential trace element needed in minute amounts to form an organic complex known as the Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF). This interacts with the pancreatic hormone, insulin to regulate the uptake of glucose by cells. GTF encourages the production of energy from glucose, especially in muscles, and may also suppress hunger pangs through a direct effect on the satiety centre in the brain.
