Good and bad fats - What fats are good for you and what fats are not

The thing is that people who want to lose body fat think that the less fat they consume, the more body fat they will lose. It is true that most fats are bad for you, that is also why so many foods in the supermarkets, have very low fat. But not all fats are bad for you and some fats in fact can be the missing link, and the reason why you have not been able to lose body fat.

Good and bad fats

Everyone knows very well that if you add the wrong types of fats to your diet, then increase your blood cholesterol, clog your arteries, increase fat storage and much much more. This obviously is bad news for everyone, but especially for those who want to lose fat. But unfortunately people don´t know that, if you add the right types of fats to your diet, then you will increase your energy, increase muscle-building hormones, increase fat burning, increase your strength, improve insulin function, improve your skin texture and strengthen your joints. Impressed?

People have the idea that eating fats, makes people fat :ut that is not true, because the consumption of dietary fats has decreased a lot in the past few decades, yet the number of overweight people has increased dramatically. The reason why people gain fat is because we consume more calories, than we burn. Fat free, does not mean sugar free or calorie free. If you cut out the fats from your diet and replace them with sugars, and still eat consume more calories then your body burns, then you gain fat.

Saturated fats and processed fats are the bad fats that w should not eat, if we want to be healthy and lose fat. The reason why they are bad for you, is because they reduce insulin sensitivity. When you have poor insulin sensitivity then the insulin is not very effective at transporting the sugar into the muscles for energy and glycogen storage. Insulin also carries amino acids into the muscles for growth and repair. If the glucose from your blood can´t go to the muscles, then it is stored as fat.

But essential fatty acids called EFA-s are your friends and help you lose fat and get into better health. THe EFA-s improve your insulin sensitivity, they are essential for joint health, required for energy production, maintain cell membrane integrity, are growth promoting, suppress cortisol production, increase metabolic rate and help burn fat.
