How You Can Speed Up Your Metabolism

Some people believe that their metabolic rate is fixed and can’t be changed. They often blame their lack of weight loss on their “slow metabolism.” If your metabolism needs to be increased, here are a few tips so you can increase your metabolism and lose weight. There are three factors that are inherent to increasing your metabolism:

What you eat

When and how you eat it

Exercise

Let's look at each of these three factors and see how doing it right can increase both your metabolism and your weight loss.

What you eat

If you want to increase your metabolism, there are certain foods that you are going to want to eat. The list includes lean meats, leafy-green vegetables, fish, fresh fruits and whole grain breads and cereals. There is one other thing that you are going to want to put onto that list:  drink six to eight glasses of water every day. All of the foods on the list are low in fat and high in fiber. If you eat foods with high-fat content, the body simply converts the fat you ate into fat on your body.

When and how you eat it

The average person thinks of that you should eat three meals per day. While this is good, it doesn’t provide the body the most efficient way to process food. Eating five or six small meals each day allows the body to process the food more efficiently, which gleans all of the nutrition out of the food. One of the worst things to do is to eat late at night or just before bed. During the sleep cycle, all of your body slows down, including your metabolism. The food you ate just before bed winds up getting stored as fat. 

Exercise

Exercise speeds up your metabolism by causing demands on the body. Whether it’s a weight-lifting program or an aerobic program, start to exercise. The food you eat will be processed more efficiently and it won’t be stored as fat.

Changing your eating habits and starting an exercise program will help you speed up your metabolism. Speeding up your metabolism will help you lose weight. You can choose to not make the changes but your weight loss will slow or even stop. It’s your choice.
