Natural Sugar

Table sugar provides you almost nil nutritional value and adds empty calories to the plate. Recognizing this fact, more and more people are turning away from table sugar and going towards other sweeteners. At the same time, even artificial sweeteners have been found to have a number of disadvantages, one being increased craving for sweet foods.

Uses of Natural Sugar

Every year thousands of sugar-addicted Moms resolve to reduce their sugar intake and that of their family. They make a New Year’s Resolution, or they start a new diet. They go through their cupboards and get rid of all the items with sugar in them. They resolve to eat fruit instead of sugary sweet desserts.

Natural Sweeteners Guide To Save Calories

Do you have a sweet tooth but want to avoid all the calories in regular table top sugar? Millions of people are using sugar substitutes instead of regular sugar to save calories and are also choosing diet foods which contain these substitute sweeteners in order to lose weight.

To prevent health issues. People with diabetes need to limit foods sweetened with regular sugar since this has a direct effect on their blood sugar levels (insulin) and usually causes a spike (increase) in them.

Great Taste- Other sugar alcohols like sorbitol, lactitol, mannitol, maltitol, or erythritol are only a fraction of the sweetness as sugar. Xylitol, however, is just as sweet as sugar and does not require any other synthetic sweeteners to give a great sweet taste.

Erythritol is a sugar substitute that looks and tastes like sugar but has almost no calories or carbohydrates. It's naturally-derived (from plant sugars), unlike many artificial sweeteners, and it doesn't cause gas, bloating, and diarrhea, like other sweeteners such as sorbitol.

Healthy and Natural Sugar Substitutes

Single blossom honey, such as red clover honey, or orange blossom honey is low-glycemic. You can comfortably use this to sweeten your beverages. The same with Agave nectar. Both, however, are high-caloric and high-carbohydrate, so use sparingly.

Sucrose, or regular table sugar, is medium-glycemic and fine for most people if you consume small amounts, as in sweetening your coffee. Eating large amounts, for instance, in candy and baked goods, isn't on your eating plan, and eating large amounts of anything will ruin your 0-5 eating.

Sugar the potential danger of Splenda

Few of us are really aware of how many new Splenda® products there are in the supermarkets. We’ve been told that this artificial sweetener is different from all the past failures — Sweet’N Low®, NutraSweet®, etc. — and according to the claims, that this Splenda is the perfect sugar substitute.

Pros and cons of sugar

Agave nectar, a thin, honeylike substance harvested from agave plants, is noted for its low glycemic index – an indication that it may affect blood sugar levels less than sugar. It's a common problem faced by folks with a sweet tooth: You want to eat healthier without giving up the taste of sugary desserts and drinks.

Natural Sugar and Artificial Sweeteners

If you've investigated natural and artificial sweeteners lately you know that there's more than a little controversy surrounding the half-dozen or so natural and artificial sugar substitutes in widespread use in the U.S. Ever wonder how much of the controversy is just plain old propaganda? The truth is, all sugar substitutes, natural and artificial, have potential risks associated with them.
