I have been a keen sportsman all my life and rarely tipped the scales above 154Lbs After a 10 month wait for surgery and a further 4 month period of recovery I was appalled to find that I weighed in at 190Lbs... Yes 14 months of enforced inactivity and I had put on 36Lbs!!! Now for the first time in my life I needed to lose weight!! Depite numerous diet attempts I was unable to lose weight...untill in my search I discovered something revolutionary in the diet industry.
Myth 1: Just cut out fat and you will lose weight. This approach to weight loss, which was popular in the 80s, simply doesn't work for most people. Even if a food is labeled "fat-free," it can still be a high "calorie dense" food due to high quantities of sugar and hidden carbohydrates. The truth is that some fats are unhealthy, and some are good for us indeed, even necessary for your health. Hence the term, "essential fatty acids"
Myth 2: It is essential to join a gym and take lots of exercise every day. The reality is different, recent studies indicates 30 to 60 minutes per day of sensible exercise is all it takes to balance the calories of healthy dietary regime. It doesn't have to be strenuous exercise, just take some exercise and take it regularly!
Myth 3: If I eat late at night I will gain weight. It does not matter what time of day you eat food this will not necessarily cause you to gain weight, provided your overall consumption is moderate and reasonable. One other important thing to remember here is don't skip breakfast, if you do this you are far more likely to eat more food during the day rather than if you did not eat breakfast.
Myth 4: I must not eat dairy products because they are unhealthy, well it all depends on the particular product, if you drink semi-skimmed milk, and low-fat cheese and make sure it is low-fat cheese, there is nothing wrong with eating dairy products especially yogurt as it has been known to help eliminate fat from the body. Also cheese is a very good source of protein and contains many vitamins and minerals.
Myth 5: You can lose fat from a specific part of your body by doing an exercise for that part of your body. For example, doing sit ups would remove fat from your stomach area, or running will remove weight from your thighs. Fact - Sorry no you can't! You cannot control where the fat is will be lost from it will be an "all over process" with any diet or any exercise. No weight loss regime is area specific! Sorry but that's a fact.
Myth 6 - You are unable to lose weight. You can lose weight but it usually happens very slowly, more slowly than you would like it to, but be patient, it will happen. Believing that you will lose weight is critical to making it happen. Realize that if you are consistently doing the right things, it will happen. Don't get side-tracked by every new crazy diet or exercise gizmo. Keep plugging away at healthy eating habits and daily exercise, it will happen!
The best way to lose weight in the long term and most importantly to keep the weight off is to enjoy the diet itself. Now I know that sounds odd. How can you enjoy dieting? Well how about a revolutionary diet system and eating program that will make you lose weight without restricting your diet to low fat or low carb' foods. The "Diet Generator" that comes with this system will allow you to enter your own choice of your favorite foods from which it can create 40,000 different diet plans. you will never be bored with your diet again. You choose the foods that you want to eat, just plug in the system and the diet will be created for you. You can create as many completely unique diets as you want. You will never have a day of boring dull diet food again.
You will be able to stay with your diet eating the foods that you like and so you will be successful at losing weight and more importantly keeping that weight off in the long term!
