Tips to Weight Loss - 10 Tips To Get You Started Losing Weight Today

Dieting does not have to be a drag!  The human body is a very intricate tool and when properly maintained will naturally regulate itself.  Making common sense decisions will get you started off on the right foot.

Tip # 1 Healthy Diet
There are many tips to weight loss but the most important one is eating a healthy diet.  But what exactly is a healthy diet?  A healthy diet consists of a balance of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.  

Tip # 2 Protein
Your body depends on protein to maintain strong muscles and a healthy body mass.  If not properly fueled your body will burn valuable lean muscle to provide energy instead of burning fat tissue.   The average person today consumes about 40 grams of protein per day when most of us need 100 to 150 grams.

Tip # 3 Frozen Fruits
I say frozen fruits because they are harvested when ripe and frozen immediately to preserve flavor and nutritional value.  Most fresh fruits are picked green and therefore are missing many nutrients that are absorbed through the plant during the crucial ripening stage.

Tip # 4 Fresh Vegetables
When it comes to vegetables the more color the better, organic is the best choice but is a bit more expensive in my opinion its worth it.  Many vegetables like tomatoes, peppers and fresh herbs can be grown right in your own home using pots.  When preparing vegetables steaming instead of boiling is always the best choice.

Tip # 5 No Root Vegetables

You will want to stay away from root vegetables like potatoes, beets, turnips and parsnips you know anything that is harvested from the ground.  Most of these vegetables carry a high glycemic load, which turns into bad sugars in the body, and they are usually high in calorie content also.  Yes they are loaded with carbs that give you a brief energy lift but they also contribute to weight gain.

Tip # 6 Portion Size
Controlling your portion size is one thing you will want to keep close tabs on.  If you currently eat large portions you will want to gradually cut back on the portion size about every 3 to 4 days.  Cutting your portion size drastically will disrupt your digestive system, which most often leads to constipation.

Tip # 7 Eat Frequently
Eating moderate portions at meal time and snacking on healthy combinations between meals will keep the metabolism moving and burning calories throughout the day.  Going long periods of time (more than 3 to 4 hours) without giving the body nutrition will cause it to slow down the metabolism and stop burning calories.

Tip # 8 Green Tea
Green tea has many health benefits; it is an excellent source of antioxidants and provides the body with a great energy lift.  Drinking green tea in mid-afternoon is a great pick-me-up and will also boost the metabolism causing it to continue to burn calories.

Tip # 9 Water
Some diets suggest that you constantly drink water to keep the stomach filled therefore you do not feel hungry.  This is a mistake, and in some people it can cause problems.  Most doctors recommend that you drink 64 ounces of water per day, that’s just eight 8-ounce glasses.  Water is a must when it comes to weight loss it helps rid the body of waste and flushes away toxins and fat tissue.

Tip # 10 Exercise
Ah yes, exercise the one word that makes everyone turn their heads or just plain give up.  Most people think of exercise as being long strenuous hours sweating at the gym.  When it comes to weight loss moderate exercise is ample for losing weight.  Simple things like going for a brisk walk after dinner is an excellent way to get the metabolism moving and burning calories.  I must say though exercise is a must if you are serious about losing weight especially when you get down to those last few pounds.
