Water – Your Fuel of Life

Water is the most important component of our body as our body composition is 70% water. The human body can actually survive with out food and only water for up to three weeks. On the other hand, survival without water is very difficult since water provides us sustenance and health.

The benefits that water provides is the fluidity in our body as all our cells and even our blood stream require this fluidity for efficient functioning and for transportation of nutrients to the various parts of the body. Cells absorb the various nutrients like vitamins and minerals which have been transported from the digestive system through the blood stream to the various cells in the body. These cells also absorb water from the blood stream since water helps in efficient functioning of the cells. Therefore, we must ensure that we have an intake of good amount of water on a regular basis, at least 64 ounces daily.

Nutrients and fitness instructors will tell you how important water is for working out, lifting weights, and losing weight! Physical activity actually requires that we take in enough amount of water. Hydrating the body is important for one main reason, boosting metabolic activity and muscle burn. Another advantage of drinking water is gaining the oxygen it has which is used to flush out the lactic acid that builds up in our muscles when we are working out or when we use our muscles excessively. If lactic acid builds up and is not cleared, it can lead to stiff muscles, pain and soreness, during and after the workout.

If you want to maintain your health and fitness, and are looking for gaining benefits out of water, you need to up your daily intake. Generally, it is recommended that about eight glasses of 8 ounces should be drunk on a daily basis, personally; however, we believe that 10 eight ounce glasses should be our daily intake of water.

There are several other benefits of water. Water can help our skin become healthy and gives a glow to the skin. It also helps in reducing wrinkles and helps to flush out all the unnecessary toxins and fat, along with any substances that we do not need. Also, water helps flush out our intestines maintaining proper quantities of yeast and bacteria which are helpful to our bodies. What’s more, water can help keep our brain running optimally, it prevents headaches because of lack of hydration and helps keep our digestive system running at it optimum level.

Quality of Water, Equally Important!

So should we be focused on the quality of water as well? The water that is supplied by the municipal water supplies has chlorine content in it which is used to treat the water. Chlorine acts as a disinfectant, however, chlorinated water can also be harmful to health. Comparing bottled water to tap water, it cannot be considered any better, and there is a huge amount of information endorsing this subject. Bottled water is actually quite acidic in nature and we will make our body even more acidic if we drink bottled water. Therefore, we should be drinking alkaline ionized water. Water ionizers can be easily attached to the kitchen tap to get this water. Chlorinated and acidic tap water becomes electrically charged and its pH is changed into alkaline through this water ionizer. It also greatly benefits the skin as it removes free radicals from the body making the skin look and feel younger. Additionally, alkaline ionized water can be more hydrating than tap or bottled water.
