What Kind of Drinking Water Treatment Is Caused By Drinking Water Contamination?

The purity of the water we drink every day is not something we want to neglect, since serious consequences with respect to our health can result from our inattention. Depending on the type of contaminant identified within our water, we may use one drinking water treatment or another.

Drinking water contamination can be caused by a multiplicity of agents. Let's take inorganic chemicals first. Beginning with antimony and arsenic, continuing with asbestos or copper or fluoride, up to thallium and nitrite or lead, and depending on the quantity of chemicals released in the water, contamination may cause cholesterol and blood sugar issues, skin disorders and intestinal damages, hair and fingernail loss and kidney and liver damage, not to mention the serious conditions they may trigger with respect to children's health.

In such cases, drinking water treatment should succeed if we use technologies based on distillation, reverse osmosis, and some filters based on carbon or ceramic or KDF filters. But drinking water contamination can be caused by microorganisms too.

Cryptosporidium, giardia lamblia, or viruses and many other pathogens can cause mainly gastrointestinal illnesses. However, some of these illnesses may culminate in severe conditions like those triggered by E. Coli. Decontaminating drinking water in these cases entails boiling, distillation, reverse osmosis, disinfection and chlorination included with UV light or ozonation.

Disinfectants, though useful in removing dangerous microorganisms, are at their turn a source of drinking water contamination. Therefore, using some means to remove these disinfectants and disinfection byproducts for that matter is recommendable, since such particles can cause the increase of risk of cancer, anemia, and can have a negative impact on the central nervous system, on liver or kidney or can trigger eye irritation or nose irritation and stomach aches.

KDF filters, distillation, or activated carbon are just a few of the means you can use in order to carry out a successful drinking water treatment. But organic chemicals are the most numerous possible contaminants, and their chance to reach into our drinking water seems to be pretty high.

First, they can reach into the water circuit as a result of some human activities in which specific substances are used. Dealing with herbicides, discharge from chemical plants, or soil fumigants may lead to a particular amount of residues that may, at their turn, accidentally or not, enter the water circuit.

Damages on the nervous system, on liver, on kidney, an increased risk of cancer are a few of the most serious conditions such organic chemicals may generate. Therefore, it is obvious that if you happen to conclude that the water you drink every day is contaminated, you have to act. Depending on the type of particle damaging the quality of your drinking water and, thus, threatening you health, you have to choose one drinking water treatment or another. But not doing anything is the worst thing you can do.
