Today there are many affiliate businesses running with people trying to earn a stable income on the internet.
One of the easiest and popular way to become an affiliate is signing with Clickbank which is the Internet leading retailer of digital products.But of course,a lot of affiliates tend to lose the will and desire to make money online,when they face the strong competition and problems that encounter regarding the products they sell,the traffic required in order to make a sale and more.
In this article I'll write about the difference between having your own opt in page or staying with your vendor's.
As we all know,the job of the affiliate is to sell the product through a sales page.The vendor sales page usually introduce the product and of course contain an opt in list for customer to receive mails and updates with regards to the product.
These opt in lists are generally paired with freebies and bonuses for customers,so when they enter their emails and names in the opt in form,they are not only signing up for bonuses and updates but also credit your page for commission.
But the question raised here is whether or not the affiliate still plays a role in the business if the customer fill the opt in form without buying the product.
Well,affiliate marketing systems,and Clickbank as well,track the activity of their affiliates through cookies and IP address,that will be saved into the computer for 60 days.
So,if the customer decides to opt in to the vendor's mailing list the ID of affiliate will be identified and the future sales will be credited to his or her account.
On the other hand,if the customer decide to buy after 60 days,erase all the cookies from the PC or buy using a different browser, then most likely the commission won't go to you.
In the other case,if you have your own opt in form on your own introducing the product website will be better because you'll be able to collect the names and email addresses of your visitors and create a list of potential customers.
Then,from time to time you'll send them updates and reminders about your product until they eventually buy.
The point is,you own the list and you are not depending on cookies,IP addresses or periods of time.
It requires a little bit more work and the right tools but it totally worth it.
