Avoid Doing Wrong by Using These Five Principles of a Good Website

Mistakes are made by everyone, even Internet marketers. Watch out, these little mistakes can add up until you realize that you're not making a profit anymore.

Cluttered Pages

I really don't like it when I come across websites with bad design principles. Some sites have so much going on that there is no focus; there is no way to tell, on some of these sites, even what the person is trying to sell or the message they're trying to get out. How is anyone supposed to have a desire to make a purchase on a website such as this?

If you're unsure of what to do or how to build a web page, it may be a good idea for you to hire someone who knows how to do it. I'm thinking that if you do this, you'll make a bigger profit. Make sure you do your research; this is very important to any business in order to find the right design professional for your needs.

Product Presentation

Here's a kicker, product presentation, that will either make your site or break it. When it comes time to put pictures up on your site, make sure that they bring out all the best features of your products.

While at a university, I wanted to live with a friend of mine who was just coming in from London. I started to look for a place where we could both live in the same apartment. One particular apart was so unique, I may never forget it; unique in a bad way. Believe it or not, I walked in and much to my shock, I saw a rather large ant hill right there on the carpet. You may think I'm exaggerating but I am not; that ant hill was an actual hill of dirt right next to the kitchen. I made my decision right then, before I even saw the rest of the apartment. I remember thinking, "if this is the best they have to show, I really don't want to live here. Your website is the same way with the way it looks. If you don't present your product in the best way you can, people are less likely to want to purchase it. In fact, they may tell their friends all about it and then they won't want to go to your site either.

Content issues

Your content says a lot about your company, your product, and your ability to run a business. Your content can have a very negative impact on the way your viewers see your site and what it stands for. On the other hand, content could also increase your sales a great deal so long as you make it good.

A great example of good content would be placing security information right in view for all your potential customers to see. Having such great content will solidify your customers approval of your site and of your business.

There is some content that can be placed on a page that will result in the customers approval of your business weaken. This includes any content which is crude, inaccurate, and unorganized. These examples are simply a few among others.

Where's the Page

If your page is slow, you better realize that it could be having a very negative impact on if the visitor to your site is going to make a purchase or not. Watch out, you don't want anybody moving onto your competition. They will if you have them sitting on your site waiting for too long. If you have a site that's not loading effectively, you may need to make some adjustments or, whenever you put money into your site, you'll simply be throwing money away.

Lack of Product Recognition

Without branding; your website will not do as well. Can customers tell right away, when they visit your site, what you're selling and for how much?
