Don’t Get Lost In The Smoke & Mirrors, When Starting An Online Business

So the time has come when you can finally tell your boss what you really think of him. It your last day of work and you're a free man. No more commuting to work, seeing the same people stuck in traffic next to you. No more 40 minute lunch breaks and having to call in to work when you're sick. Tomorrow is a new day, your starting an online business. You're so excited. You can't wait to be your own boss, set your own hours.  Work when you want to work, stay up late and sleep-in in the mornings. Does this sound like you? If it does, make sure that you didn't get lost in the smoke and mirrors of starting an online business.

(Flashback-two weeks ago)

It 4:00 p.m. on Friday and your at work. It's close to the end of the work day. You are watching the clock like a hawk, counting down the minutes to the weekend. You hear a group of people talking over at the water cooler and you wonder what they are talking about. So you head over. When you get there, Bob one of your coworkers is talking about a way to make money online. He says, "all you have to do is start an online business." You're a little interested because you hate your boss and wouldn't mind quitting. Then Bob says, you can easily make $200,000 dollars in 2 months and I'll prove it. All you have to do is come with me to a meeting this weekend. I will introduce you to my mentor and he will explain how easy it is to start an online business of your own. You know, like and trust Bob.  So you commit to going and a handful of others do too.

It's 10 a.m. on Saturday and you're in the car with Bob and to other coworkers. Bob's talking all about this great MLM Company he joined, that sells a magical potion. All you have to do is drink it and it cures everything. They call it the magical fountain of youth. He tells you, he gave some to his mother that is old. She drank it and has lost 50 pounds, her hair in not gray anymore and all of her wrinkles are gone. He says she looks and feel like she's 22 again (she is really 82 years old). He continues, to tell you how everyone will want this product. It going to be the biggest thing since the internet, you have to get involved before the rest of the town does. You're so excited you can't wait to get to the meeting and learn how to start an online business of your own.

Finally you arrive at the meeting and parked right up front, are tWo red Ferraris and two 760i BMWs. You walk inside and the meeting starts. Onto the stage walks a young man in his early 30's. He is dressed very nice in a three piece suit. The first thing he asks is, "Who here wanted to make $200,000 dollars in 2 months." Most of the crowd raises their hands and there are a few hoots also. He then goes on to tell the crowd about this amazing product that they scraped off of a rock in the jungles of Asia on a full moon and they can only do this once a year. He then talks about how this company is the fastest growing MLM Company in the world. He talks a little more about how great it is and everyone should join today. He then concludes with this, "I joined this company before the doors even opened. I quit my job and went full-time on this business. Now I'm wearing $3,000 dollar suits and driving $300,000 dollar Ferraris. You can too.

So all through the meeting your mind is racing through all the possibilities and how much money you are going to be making two days from now. You're so excited you can't even see straight. You're thinking of all the people you can call to pitch this opportunity to. As soon as the meeting is over, you run up to the front and join. You want to get in before anyone else can get above you. You go home and try to sleep, but you can.

Well I hope not. One of the biggest problems with this industry of network marketer, MLM distributors and home based entrepreneurs is hype or smoke & mirrors. It's just like what the magicians do in their show. Look at this hand over here, so you don't see what my other hand is doing over there. Starting an online business is no different. The up-lines and leaders in the business want you to get so excited, you make irrational and quick decisions. They are just looking to get you in the business. After that usually your on your own. This is why most fail. They get lost in the smoke and mirror of starting an online business

Here are some examples of Smoke & Mirrors:

-         Expensive clothes
-         Expensive cars
-         I did so you can too
-         Everyone you know will want to join
-         We have the best product, everyone is going to want it
-         We are the fastest growing company in the industry

These are all tricks they use to get you excited. Are some of them true, of course. However, here lays the problem. You don't know because you never did your due diligence. The only way to make a rational decision and join a company that will be around to pay your children, is to take your time and do your due diligence. There is no hurry to join a company. If they are as great as they say they are. Two or three days will not hurt you.
The other problem is, if they are telling you that you can also start an online business and have success like them. They better have excellent online training for you and I am not talking about buying leads, getting your friends and family involved and telling everyone three feet from you. I am talking about solid online training like social media marketing, video marketing, article marketing and more. This is the best way for you to have longevity and the most success you can.

So Don't Get Lost In The Smoke & Mirrors, When Starting An Online Business. Make sure you take your time and do your due diligence. Then get a college education equivalent in the online business industry and nothing will stop you. See you at the top!!
