Do you remember the days before the internet existed? People would write letters, make phone calls using a landline, and look up businesses in the phone book. The world of today, however, is starting to look very different. People can order a bathroom vanity over the internet while they are on a conference call with business partners in Germany all while wearing pajamas. Communication is instant and you can make a thousand dollar purchase with just a few clicks of the mouse. E-commerce companies are becoming bigger and bigger; you can purchase virtually anything you need online! If you are a brick and mortar company that is interested in expanding your customer base, you need to think about building a website that will feature your products. Once you have the website in place, you need to go into promote website mode. You are competing with thousands of other websites that might be going after the same keywords that you are. Therefore, you need to market your site appropriately so that you reach the customer base that you want to reach.
The first step is to determine what keywords you would like to push for your site. Keywords are the words that people might type into search engines when they are looking for a certain product or service. For instance, someone shopping for a new bathtub will type in "bathtub," "bath tubs," or "bathroom remodel." If you sell bathtubs, then you need to make sure that people searching for those keywords can find your site!
In order to market your site for those keywords, you need to employ a strategy of freshly written content and link building. Search engines such as Google or Yahoo have hundreds of employees working hard to make sure that their search results are what the customers want. No one even looks at page two of search results, therefore you need to get your website on page one! Putting together an effective campaign to promote website and promote your blog will take time and patience. As long as you are willing to work hard and be creative, you will have your site coming up as number one before you know it!
