The Filipino Philippine Lechon

 

When it comes to festivities in the Philippines, foods and drinks is always abundant. And a Philippine Lechon can always go a long way. Now there is a lot of festivities that can be celebrated here in the Philippines, such festivities include the Ati-Atihan, Dinagyang, Sinulog, Moriones, Kadayawan and the Parada ng Lechon in Balayan Batangas. Now all of these festivities and other festivities that happen in the Philippines have its similarities with each other, such similarity is the purpose of the festivity.

A lot of festivities here in the Philippines are celebrated to honor the Santo Niño or other saints. But that is not the only thing that festivities had in common, and that is the Philippine Lechon.

The Philippine Lechon has become a traditional cuisine here in the Philippines. A celebration is not a celebration without a whole Philippine Lechon sitting in the dinner table.

Among the many popular dishes here in the Philippines, the Philippine Lechon is considered to be the most popular among the Filipinos. The Philippine Lechon is a popular Filipino cuisine that is commonly reserved only for special occasion such as festivities or celebrations.

The name Lechon was derived from the Spanish word meaning suckling pig, which is a piglet that is killed between the ages of two to six weeks and traditionally roasted. But unlike a suckling pig, a Philippine Lechon is usually a whole adult roasted pig.

Philippine Lechon is usually cooked during the holiday season, and other special occasions such as weddings, graduations, birthdays and baptisms, or family get-togethers, and especially festivities. A Philippine Lechon is commonly served with liver-based gravy or sometimes served Chinese style with steamed buns and a sweet plum sauce.

Philippine Lechon is usually the main highlight of festivities or other kinds of celebrations, and it is the most popular dish in the event. Other versions of a Philippine Lechon include the Philippine Lechon kawali which is cooked in a large frying pan and cooked to a crisp.
