Blackjack Game Strategy Tips

The game of blackjack has many different strategies to help you win at the game.  Almost all of the strategies behind blackjack are based on mathematics which includes probability, odds, and chance.  With some simple observations on how blackjack works, you can increase your chances of winning the game.

One of the most famous ways to help increase the chances of winning at blackjack, is counting cards.  Counting cards is fairly simple to do.  This strategy has been around since the early 1950's and used ever since then.  This strategy requires some memorization of this routine.  However once the routine is down, it is quite simple to apply to the game.  First off, each card is assigned an imaginary number.  Low cards like two through nine are generally assigned either a zero or a one.  High cards such as face cards, ten, or an ace, are assigned a negative number such as negative one.  The point of counting cards is to tell the odds of winning.  Depending on the type of blackjack game, the added up total of the imaginary numbers will help determine whether it is a good idea to ask for another card. Although counting cards is a popular strategy to many people, it does not tell you what the next card will be.  However, it will give you a better sense of what cards are left in the deck.  This strategy will most likely improve your odds of winning.  Even though many people count cards at casinos, this technique is generally banned in most casinos.  This strategy gives the blackjack player an advantage over the dealer and casino.  If you are going to count cards, be sneaky about it because casinos can easily point out a card counter.   

Another popular strategy when playing blackjack is called back-counting.  This strategy involves the player to stand near a blackjack table to observe.  The player generally counts the cards this way without actually playing.  When the time is right, the player should enter the game.  The odds should be in favor for the player if he or she counted the cards correctly.  However, this strategy can have some downsides too.  Casinos may become suspicious and kick the player out for having an advantage over the casino.  Players also may become irritated if you stand too close to the blackjack table without placing a bet.  Although card counting seems illegal, really it is not.  There is no law stating that this strategy is illegal.  Casinos set these rules because they have lost lots of money from people counting cards. 

With some practice, you can easily pick up these different strategies.  Try practicing these different techniques with friends.  Then when you feel ready, go out and try them yourself.  Make sure to follow all rules at the casino.  Call up ahead of time to make sure that there is no punishment for card counting.
