Like most sports, there are various systems people use in the NHL to gamble. Having used NHL betting strategies myself I wanted to tell you about how I got on. In this article I'll answer the question do NHL betting strategies work?
One of the NHL betting strategies I have used is to go against the grain of public opinion and bet on the non-favourite. Home dogs are a favourite of this system. As the NHL is about who gets the win the winning percentage of the teams on any given night isn't so important as the betting line.
As far as NHL betting strategies go I was very pleased with this one because I found it worked great early on in the season.
However, at the end of the season the home dogs stopped barking and started curling up in the corner. Like all NHL betting strategies it had a lot of ups and downs but overall I won 55% of bets which considering the system isn't stats based or research-oriented in any way is just about ok.
The biggest problem with NHL betting strategies are that you really only have two bets. You have a straight win bet and you have the over/under, which is a bet on how many goals will be scored in a game.
You can use stats, look at past encounters and goaltenders form but in essence it counts for very little. There hasn't been a profitable system of betting for the NHL, not a legitimate one anyway.
The best way to make money is still to bet on home dogs but in the long run you probably won't be much better off than I was.
Do NHL betting strategies work? No.
