Herschelle Gibbs Infringed the Icc Code

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Richie Benaud, the former Australian captain will hear the South African Herschelle Gibbs’ appeal against his two-test ban.

During last Sunday match Gibbs was banned for two tests after being found guilty of a level three offence under the ICC code of conduct.
Gibbs was caught by the microphones at Centurion’s match, using abusive language and making racial comments to Pakistan supporters, while the first Test of the match; which by the way South Africa won by seven wickets.
However, on Thursday Herschelle Gibbs lodged an appeal against the ban imposed by match referee Chris Broad, and according to Proteas captain Graeme Smith, Gibbs will definitely play in the second test against Pakistan.
The 32-year-old player will remain available for selection until the ICC appeals commissioner announces a decision. The hearing was expected to be done before the start of the match at the “Friendly City” Port Elizabeth (PE), in spite of it, the date for the appeal hasn’t been set. The last statement the ICC made about it is that they expect to hold the hearing between the second and third tests.
Benaud, is Australia’s nominee as Code of Conduct Commissioner, who has been a popular broadcaster for many years and who currently has accepted the appointment to preside as the Appeals Commissioner on Gibbs’ via teleconference hearing.
