They determine how disciplined you are, and that means you are able to wait for the right moment to act.

You must never play where the odds are stacked against you. You must wait out all situations, and not let the situation master you, but you master it.

You must have will power to say no to alcohol, letting your personal problems interfere with your game, or playing when you are not physically fit (as in TIRED).

Just don't do it. You must be strong enough to say ‘no thanks' at the correct time; and stick to it! Always question yourself, "is this right for me?" when you play your hands.

3. Be an Economist!

Not good in economics? You will never succeed in poker.

If want to win you need to bet heavily when the odds in your favor and learn to fold when there not. Sure its more fun playing but the good poker player foldes the bulk of there hands and you should to.

You also have to have money put away for dry spells. If you don't, then don't play. In games like Texas Hold'em and Omaha, you need large multiples of the largest bets, maybe even as much as 300% or so.

Also, play from your winnings, but be sure to add to your stake regularly.

If you don't and don't manage your funds correctly, you will go bust . It happens every time.

4. Be an Enigma

Are you easy to read, to predict? Well, if you are, poker is not your game.

Because a winning poker player is as unpredictable as the weather.

You must react to who and how the other players are acting. If you are online, you have to remember you and the other players have tells, so beware you are not being read.

Have your opponets been playing a tight game? Why not play more loose then? Have they been playing loose? So now is the time for you to tighten up.
