Position is important:

So you walked into a casino and you found a blackjack table. Before you sit down you should consider your position at the table. I am sure that you have heard this before, but do not sit on just any chair. The best position to sit in is third base seat.

Do not play as the dealer does:

When it comes to the dealer, there are things that you must do and things that you must avoid. You must always leave a tip and you must not get angry with him if you lose. It is not his fault you lost. He is just an employee and he has nothing to gain from beating you. But if you annoy him, you will find it that he can make things rather difficult for you. Remember that the dealer must follow the house rules. Consequently he will hit on 16 and stand on 17. Do not assume that he is a skilled blackjack player and do not try to emulate him. He is just following the rules.

Losing is always an option:

Winning and losing are part of the game. The house always has an edge, and it is that edge that will cause you to lose on the long run. Luckily, when playing blackjack you can lower that house edge to a minimum. But just because the house edge is low does not mean that you will always win. Let’s say that your hand total is 12. In this case you should hit. But chances are that you will be dealt a 10 valued card and bust. As a matter of fact your chances of busting this hand are quite high. That is why some blackjack players decide to stand on such a card total. But if you stand, then the house edge goes up to 4%.

Do not try to card count:

Card counting is a good method to try to get an edge. But unless you are an excellent card counter, then you are better off using basic strategy and proper money management techniques. Not to mention that the casinos are always on the lookout for card counters. If you are discovered you will not be allowed to play in that casino anymore. And if you play online blackjack you simply cannot card counts as the shoe is shuffled after every round.
