Email marketing has proven to be a very effective way to reach your customers, recruit new customers and improve sales, for those who do it right. This article is a little advise about how do you can develop an well designed and profitable email marketing campaign. What you email to your customers is very important. If it isn't well designed and professional the results could be damaging to your business instead of beneficial. You need to be able to design and deliver your email messages to the right people, get them to actually read and respond to your message, and measure the results.
Goals of Your Campaign
The first thing you need to think about is the goals of your campaign. What do you expect to achieve with your emails? Will it be to announce discounts and promotions, or will you be sending a weekly newsletter? Who do you want to reach? You have to have clear, well defined goals before you start. This can save you a lot of time and effort later.
Do Some Research
If you do not develop marketing strategies from well defined goals, your marketing campaign can turn into a tedious and time-consuming waste. To help you get your well defined goals you need to do some research. Take a look at your competition. What is your competition doing? Go to Google and search, "Ezine Directory". You will come up with a list of ezine directory sites. Pick a directory and sign up for a few of the ezines. See how other people are doing it.
Find some ezines that have something in common with your business. The goals of their business might be different, so strategies they use in email marketing will also be different, but you can always learn from them. Be creative and develop a unique marketing campaign that suite your business.
Know Your Audience
It is very important that you take the time to set your goals and to know your audience before you develop your campaign. You must know your audience. You have to be able to give your audience comprehensible, relevant information. This is a very necessary part of developing an effective email marketing campaign. If your audience isn't interested in what you have to say then it doesn't matter how many emails you send out.
Permission Based
You will not last long if your email marketing is not based on permission. You need an email address owner's permission before you can send them a commercial email. If you don't have their permission, then the recipients of your mail may regard your message to be spam. If you are accused of sending spam, you may get your email accounts closed and your web site shut off. You may even be breaking the law. Long-term successful email marketing campaigns can only work if they're permission based.
Make sure everything in the email is spelled correctly and grammatically correct. Nothing looks more amateurish than an email with errors. Make sure the subject line of your email is clear and compelling. The subject line will make or break the reader's decision to open your email.
Spam Filtering
Spam filters work by analyzing the email based on words. Avoid using spam trigger keywords like amazing, cancel at any time, click here, congratulations, dear friend, double your income, eliminate debt, extra income, earn extra cash, free, great offer, guarantee, increase sales, order now, risk free, special promotion, this is not spam, winner, home based, homebased business, income from home, incredible deal, limited time offer. This will help your email marketing campaign to get past the spam filters.
If you send HTML emails, excessive use of colors, fonts, sizes, images, large fonts, too many images or not enough text will result in a higher spam filtering. Keep your email simple, and stick to a maximum of 2 or 3 different font types and sizes.
Email marketing is a great opportunity for you to communicate with your customers and to promote your business. Think how much it cost to send a message to thousands of postal addresses!
