Banner Advertising: Different Type of Banners

Advertisers are using the web as an advertising medium. This is all due to the vastness of the medium and dynamic targeting. Another reason for increasing online ad spends in the advertising budget is banner advertising. This type of online advertising is worth an ad spending due to its effectiveness. This sort of advertisement campaigns are performed with placing banner ads across the web. The banner advertisements are interactive in nature. The banner advertising is done in a way, so that the advertiser gets maximum exposure for its products and services. Now, these banner ads come in different types of formats.

The formats of the banner ads are decided in accordance with the theme and need of the products and services. Dimensions of these banner ads are measured in pixels. Firstly, there are skyscraper ads that come in following formats, which are Wide Skyscraper (160 X 600 pixels) and Skyscraper (120 X 600 pixels). Other skyscraper ads are, which are commonly used are the Super Skyscraper or Half Page Ad (300 X 600 pixels).

In addition to it, there are button banners, which are used in the following pixel formats, Button 1 (120 X 90 pixels) and Button 2 (120 X 60 pixels). Other commonly used button banners are Micro Button (80 X 15 pixels), Micro button banner that measures 88 X 31 pixels and Square Button (125 X 125 or 120 X 120 pixels). The button ads are vastly used over the Internet for banner advertising.

The banner advertising also consists of rectangular ads. These ads are used in formats that are Medium Rectangle (300 X 250 pixels) and Square Pop Up (200 X 200 pixels). In addition to it, the following rectangular banner ads are also used by advertisers often, Vertical Rectangle (240 X 400 pixels), Large Rectangle (336 X 280 pixels) and Plane Rectangle (180 X 150 pixels). These types of banners are quite attractive in appearance.

Now, there are a few traditional types of banners, which comprises of Full Banner (468 X 60 pixels) and Half Banner (234 X 60 pixels). Whereas, a few more that join this league are Vertical Banner (120 X 240 pixels), Micro Bar (88 X 31 pixels) and Leader Board (770 X 60 pixels). These traditional banners are being used since the early years of online banner advertising. These banner ads, along with innovative rich media technology ads, are creating a deep impact over the potential customers or target audience of the advertisers.
