Classifieds both online and print today provide a very easy, fast and cheap advertising medium for sellers to reach out customers. However since it has become a medium of choice for both small and big retailers in their advertising campaigns, most of the classifieds look crowded and thus it becomes very important to write an effective ad which would catch the attention of the prospective buyers and get responses. As a rule of thumb you do not have more than 3 seconds to grab an individual's attention before he/she moves over to the next ad. While on online classifieds your headline and ad copy must grab attention immediately and hold the reader's attention long enough to get your message across, in the print media, words and images are the only means to effectively grab a reader's attention. We would here learn the tricks of effective advertising on the former one i.e. online classifieds.
Choose an appropriate title for your ad, if your Ad title is not interesting, users who are just skimming through wouldn't bother clicking on it.
Place your Ad in the relevant category only. Wrongly categorized Ads usually will get deleted are not reached by customers
Provide sufficient details in your Ad, if the Ad content is not interesting enough then despite good Ad views buyers may not contact you.
If you are selling an item posting actual pictures of same will be useful as ads with pictures get much better response. goforAds.com provides free photo upload to all users.
It is always good to mention price in your Ad. Include full pricing such as shipping costs, recurring costs and other hidden costs.
Provide sufficient modes of contact for buyers to approach you. Providing email address, mobile phone number will facilitate your sales.
When providing e-mail address it is recommended that you keep the address hidden and let buyers contact you using the contact form. This way you save your email from getting into the hands of spammers.
Avoid irrelevant content in your Ad. Be very much targeted and to the point. Highlight key features properly and look at your ad once before posting as a potential buyer.
Lastly be concise. Keep your Ad short and interesting with all necessary details. Most people wouldn't bother reading through an entire Ad if, at first glance, they see a mass of words.
