File system corruption, application malfunctioning, MBR (Master Boot Record) damage, metadata structure corruption, software bugs are few main reasons responsible for the occurrence of STOP error messages in your computer system. A STOP error message usually occurs during the booting process or when you resume your system from standby mode. Two major consequences of a STOP error message are – unmountable hard drive and data inaccessibility. An up-to-date backup acts as a boon to completely and systematically restore the lost data. But, in case of backup unavailability or backup failing short of restoring the desired information, you need to recover the data. To do so, you will need to use powerful file recovery software.
As a practical case, you encounter any of the below error messages when you resume your Windows XP based system from a standby mode:
“0x0000007a (e163a3e4, c000000e, bf8e9313, 0697f860)”
Or
“0x000000F4 (0x00000003, Parameter2, Parameter3, Parameter4)”
The three parameters (Parameter2, Parameter3, and Parameter4) in the above STOP error message may vary.
The above issue primarily occurs on a system in which Windows XP or later operating system is installed on a hard drive that is configured as a subordinate and other device is connected to the same IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) controller channel.
Data saved in the hard drive becomes inaccessible after any of the above error messages appear. Furthermore, you encounter the same error messages each time you attempt to start your system.
Cause:
The root cause for the occurrence of the above error message is using of Windows XP or later operating systems with incompatible motherboards.
Resolution:
To resolve the above error messages and access the data, you will need to follow the below measures:
- You will need to connect another device as a master, such as another disk drive or a CD drive or DVD drive.
- If the problem still persists, change your PATA (Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment) cables, your SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) cable, or your IDE cable even if the cable does not appear worn.
If the above resolutions fail to perform and error messages still appear, then the best solution left is to reinstall Windows. A clean reinstall of Windows will erase all the data from the selected hard drive partition. To recover your data from a formatted hard drive, you will need to use advanced partition recovery software. These partition recovery applications use high end scanning methods to recover lost data from a formatted hard drive.
Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is a powerful file recovery application. The software comprehensively recovers lost data from corrupted, deleted, formatted or lost hard drive partitions. The software supports 185 different file types that can be further extended. It is compatible with FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file systems. The software supports Windows 7 (Currently in RC1), Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000.
