Antelope Hunter II, Orange Co-Polymer Handle, Plain

The Antelope Hunter II from Kershaw has some direct advantages over other similar knives in its class. It is an 8 inch knife with a 3.63 inch blade that gives it a size that is both small enough to be carried comfortably, yet still retaining a size that does not detract from its usability. The handle is made of an injection-molded co-polymer which gives you a knife that is lightweight, but also durable.

The plain edge blade is made of AUS8A stainless steel, which is a high carbon, low chromium stainless steel. It is stronger than standard stainless steel, and holds an edge better, which will make it a little more expensive than a knife made of standard stainless steel. Its one real disadvantage compared to stainless steel is that it is not quite as rust resistant, and thus requires that it should be kept oiled when not in use.

In addition to being lightweight and strong, its handle is a bright hunter’s orange making it less likely that the knife will be lost if dropped in the field. It comes with a harness leather sheath making it easy to carry, and it can be conveniently kept out of the way when not in use while hunting.

Another advantage of the Antelope Hunter II is that it is relatively inexpensive. In most cases you will pay around $25-30 for this knife. For the conscientious shopper, this is a great deal as it is a good quality hunting knife that will fit just about any hunter’s budget.
