CAD Architectural Drawing

Prospects Of Architectural Drawing
Drawing is a descriptive, analytical, and developmental technique. Architectural Drawing is the backbone of the design industry and plays a significant role in converting a conceptual design to workable structure. It involves the near accurate rendering of a structure, conventionally on paper. In the computer age, manual architectural drawing is more or less on its way out as the architects are always in apprehension of the well-being of their invaluable drawings which are difficult to manage and preserve. The next challenge faced by the architects, with regard to drawing work, is getting a 'complete view' of a building as different blocks of the building might be constructed at different time intervals. These architectural drawings may have different specifications and techniques. Therefore, to get a 'complete picture' in totality on the basis of these architectural drawings is time consuming and difficult.

Computer Aided Drawing
To overcome these hurdles, Computer Aided Design (CAD) system is an indispensable solution for paper based architecture drawings. Computer aided architectural designs are at a lesser risk of damage as they are easy to handle and communicate to the people involved in the building process. Through computer aided architectural drafting and design you can virtually visualize how a project or certain aspects of it will look after completion. You can even view different angles of the same structure. It requires less effort to draft multiple drawings regarding architectural Plans, Sections; Elevations; detailing for beams, columns, doors and windows; Siteplan and Presentation drawings; Electrical; Plumbing; HVAC; 2D and 3D rendering; Fire Fighting, Foundation and Framing Plans, and architectural perspective drawing. With technology and a focused approach, architectural drawings, 2D drafting and 3D rendering can be strategically based on the client's specific requirements. Drawing conversion into CAD format allow better understanding and visualization.

Standards and Norms
Like any other design related service, even in computer aided architectural drawing certain quality standards have to be adhered to. Most common architecture, engineering and construction standards are AIA Cad Layer Guidelines, 2nd edition (1997), has a great usage in the USA; ISO 13567-1/3, International standard, common in Northern Europe; BS 1192 part5, a simplified adaptation of the ISO standard based on CI/SfB, very common in UK; AEC(UK), an adaptation of BS1192 based on Uniclass. Other methodology and standards used globally include those certified by the Indian Institute of Architects, Royal Australian Institute of Architects and Royal Institute of British Architects.
