Conference Call Companies – Choosing the right one

Over the last few years, many new conference call companies have set themselves up in business, promising great service at low prices. As well as adding to the confusion of trying to pick the best company for your conference call needs, you need to be careful as all may not be as it seems on the surface.

In some cases, these companies can have a fantastic website, giving the appearance of a very professional company. But in many cases it is just that – an appearance! If you try to contact them by phone, you may be met with an answer service. This should ring alarm bells as the company should be on hand at all times to help with any simple questions or technical issues you may have.

If the conference call company you have rang do pick up the phone and there is a real person at the other end, well that is a good sign. Now you need to find out how good they are.

One of the simple ways to do this is to ask them to give the names of a few of the companies that they have worked with recently. This is so you can call those companies for a reference. You need to find out if the service provider is professional, if the quality of their calls are good, if the pricing is fair and similar questions, just to get a feel to see if it is a company you would be happy to work with.

With regards to price, the cheapest is not always the best. In fact, there are companies out there who offer ‘free’ conference calls. Try not to get drawn in by this. You may find with many very cheap or free services that there are a number of hidden extras that you will need to pay for.

Examples include having to dial a premium rate number and paying for customer support. Also, the quality may not be good and you could have difficulty hearing all parties who are on the conference call.

However, free is not always a bad thing. What I mean by this is that there are some companies who will offer a free trial of the services. This will allow you to ‘try before you buy’ and judge for yourself if the service is what you expect it to be.

And if you are new to the world of conference calls, taking a free trial offer is a good way to see how easy it is to use and it will also give you the knowledge to ask further questions which you may not have thought of previously.

And finally, always check and double check your bills. Make sure that the company you have chosen have not tried to slip in an extra charge for something you did not use and also check to see if the numbers are the same as what you were quoted.

There are some conference call companies who are very professional with excellent customer service but may not be completely honest when it comes to money. So be on your guard.
