Virtual Assistants Offer Flexibility to Workers and Business Owners

When the industrial revolution started, people began working out of their homes and in factories not just to earn a living for their families but to also support their nation’s economy.  Today, with the development of computer and internet technologies, more and more people are opting to work from home.

With the concept of virtual assistants, more and more workers, including women who have children are now getting the opportunity to work from home. Virtual assistant are office assistants that work from home using various communication tools to perform their jobs.  Virtual assistants can perform a wide range of tasks from answering company emails, sending out marketing letters, performing creative tasks to providing technical assistance to clients.  Companies that offer virtual assistance usually offer a wide range of services- from translation services to concierge services.  These companies are able to offer a number of services because they usually employ several freelancers with varied skill sets that work on a per project basis. Virtual assistants can perform practically almost all types of jobs that regular office workers do but for a cheaper rate.

The idea that the worker can work from home instead of reporting to the office offers workers around the globe flexibility.  Mothers who can’t afford to hire a nanny can now earn income by working a few hours each day as a virtual assistant.  People who have physical disabilities can also work full-time from home without the inconveniences of commuting to and from work.  Working from home allows workers to set their work schedules as long as their client or employer allows flexi-time. Because of the convenience of working from home, millions of workers around the world are now taking advantage of the opportunity to earn income while working at home.  With this kind of work set-up, workers are able to find a good balance between their work life and their home life.

It is not just the workers who are benefitting from the concept of virtual assistants. Many businesses are taking advantage of the different services that virtual assistant companies provide.  The set-up provides many advantages to business owners. Because the worker is at home working using his own resources, the company no longer needs to provide office space, computer (and other office equipment) as well as employee benefits that will all add up to your company’s overhead expense.  Hiring a virtual assistant also saves the company precious time that the company would have used on the hiring and training of personnel. When a company hires a virtual assistant, then the whole hiring process is shortened and the company can expect efficient service from the virtual assistant.  Whereas in the past, companies had to deal with the development and satisfaction of their employees and the maintenance and upgrading of the systems at the office, today companies can expect to get the results they want without the associated costs.
