Dealing With Exam Stress and Home Work

People suffer from stress from time to time. When stressed, you may feel worried, anxious, upset or sad. There are many situations that can make you feel stressed, such as home work and exams. You may feel that it is taking forever to complete a piece of work or you don’t know or understand what you are supposed to do. When revising for exams, you may feel that you need to do lots of revision in a short space of time or feel unprepared even after spending several days revising.

There are many things you can do to help you cope with the stress of home work and exams. Talking to a teacher, parent or friend about how you feel can really help and they can give you advice or tips on what to do. It is important that you find ways of coping with home work and exams that work best for you. People have different ways of learning so what works well for one person may not necessary work for you.

If you are having difficulties with homework, make sure you speak to your teacher about what you are expected to do and whether there are ways in which you can be supported such as working with another student or using relevant books. If you are worried about exams, make sure that you start revising well in advance, don’t leave revision to the last minute. Devise a revision timetable and take notes on important points when revising. It may help to go over what you have revised with your peers so that you can test each other about what you have learnt.

It is important that you eat well, drink water and get lots of rest, especially the night before your exams; and ask for help if there are things you do not understand.
