Gogo Crazybones: What Every Parent Needs to Know

Gogos Crazy Bones are the UK's latest playground craze. It's a trial for any parent to keep up with the latest fads amongst their children. They seem to come round so often and their so alien to any sort of common sense that a parent could ever fathom, that it ends up becoming completely baffling. So if you've noticed your child carrying round handfuls of small, brightly coloured figures and throwing them around, you'll no doubt be a little stumped. Hopefully, this short guide will point you in the right direction so you'll be a little more clued up on Crazy Bones.

When Did the Crazy Bones Fad Begin?

The short answer is 'Ancient Greece'. Back in those days, they were actual sheep bones. Since then, they have had a number of renaissances. They became massively popular in the US in the 1990s when they were given away free my McDonalds. A little later on, they took off in the UK. The latest craze came early in 2008 when Gogo's released a new set of figures

How Many Crazy Bones Are There?

There are 80 different Crazy Bones. However, each of these come in five different colours. That gives a grand total of 400 Crazy Bones (making collecting a full set a mammoth task). As if this weren't enough, There are also five 'special surprise' Crazy Bones. These are multi-coloured affairs, very sought after and are very hard to find.

How Do You Play Crazy Bones?

There are a number of different ways to play with them. The traditional method is to roll them along the floor or a table top and allocate points depending on how the fall. More simple games include seeing how high you can throw them and still catch them and also a variation on the old game of jacks.

But It's Just the Figures, Right?

No, as well as collecting the figures, there are also stickers that need collecting (which come in the same pack as the figures themselves). Also there are bags and boxes (referred to as coffins) that are used to store them.

Will This Fad Be Over Soon?

It's hard to say. These things can disappear as fast as they appeared. However, Gogo are hoping it goes on a little longer at least. They will be releasing a new series known as Crazy Bones Evolution later in 2008.
