How to Make a Resisting Child Use the Potty Training Toilet Seat

Potty training a child is really a great achievement for any parent especially a mother. She will probably consider it as the greatest feat in her life if she could successfully potty train her child in just a few sessions. You can potty train your child as early as 6 months but it would be more ideal when the child is around 18 months when the child itself is ready to indicate that it wants to do its potty.

Most children are against potty training and will put up a lot of resistance to it if they are forced to do it. So it is up to the mother to cajole her child to sit on that potty training toilet seat using patience, love and understanding. The mother also needs tremendous energy and time on her hands to potty train her child. And no one can expect instant results within a week or so but have to wait patiently till the child decided for itself that he is ready to be potty trained.

Any mother can familiarize her child to be potty toilet trained by taking the child regularly to the toilet and allowing the child to flush the toilet. Children are excited about flushing the toilet especially when they see the sudden gush of water inside the closet bowl.

Also buy a potty training toilet seat for your child and allow your child to play with it without removing its clothes. This will make the child more comfortable with the potty chair and once the child trust you completely he or she will be absolutely ready to do their potty on it.

Children are ready to do their potty when you see them suddenly becoming very quiet and calm and have a serious look on their faces. This is the time when you should gently help them to sit on the potty chair and give them a toy to play with or try to read from a book. It may take lots of time before they really decide to let go.

You can purchase potty training toilet seats which are now available in a variety of designs and colors to help them relax and want to use it to do their potty. The child can use the potty chair for sometime till he or she is ready to use the regular toilet.
