Is Your Teen Spinning Out of Control?

It's easy to think you're doing your child some good by giving them space. I'm sure you've also heard that too much of a good thing....

Your child needs you to intervene!

Have you ever felt that your child may have been switched at birth, and you somehow get stuck with someone else's problem?

Don't be ashamed to admit it, those feelings are normal, especially for parents in your situation.

The truth is, all teens at some time or another test the metal of their parents. They will test the limits of acceptable behavior. At the end of the day, your kids know that you love them and would do anything in your power for them, so they tend to take advantage of your good nature.

My 1st question is, what do you consider an out of control teen?

Is it because they get a bit snippy with or rude once in a while? Will they sometimes break curfew more than you'd like? If so, rest assured because that's fairly normal behavior for a teen. I know stuff like that could drive you to drink a whole bottle of scotch in about 45 seconds, but it is not anything you should be too worried about. Those behaviors are fairly easy to remedy, if you know how.

I think I know what you're thinking...What is the difference between an out of control teen and a normal big mouth, obnoxious teen?

If those things happen every now and then, it might just be a part of growing up. If it happens more often, you may have cause for concern.

Perhaps I should give you a little background information about me. I too had an out of control teen that was extremely challenging because he wasn't my child. You'll notice I said I HAD an out of control teen. I married a woman that has 2 children, at the time they were 14 years old. As I hoped you've guessed by now, they're twins.

One of them was a normal teen, doing everything I expected....every now and again. The other one was a different story all together. It was so bad that my marriage was in serious trouble because of the disrespectful child.

I tried everything in my power, I mean I displayed the patience of Job. When my step-son took MY car out for a joy ride and totaled it...you can imagine what ensued. Heck,if not for his mother, I would have probably killed the boy.

Anyway, upon doing some research on the topic I came across a man named Norbert Georget. He's a Canadian speaker that has helped countless parents regain control over their out of control teens.

I've actually been to one of his seminars, and I can honestly say I learned so much that day I wouldn't have a problem calling that day life altering. Actually, I guess I can call it that because Norbert's advice saved my marriage and my home life!

The Importance of Getting Messy: It Might Even be Good for your Sex Life

By: Terri Akman | 16/12/2009
There are some children who just don’t want to get messy. They balk at activities that require hands-on involvement, including finger painting, kneading cookie dough, and pushing seeds into potting soil. Sometimes, they are just shy, and as the year progresses, they take steps to further their involvement. In other cases, their parents discourage them from getting dirty, and teach their children to be observers rather than participants.
