Do you have a background in dance? Are you a crafty person? Do you enjoy cooking? Is Science your favorite subject? Are reading and books your forte? Here is an idea that can help moms find creative ways to share their talents and interests.
Start a playgroup and share your talents. For young preschoolers keep the group small. Find 3 to 5 moms with different interests and talents, but all compatible, of course. Then each mom will take a day of the week to ‘entertain’ the kids for a couple of hours.
Monday - Dance mom can take this day to teach the children a new dance step.
Tuesday - This can be Crafty mom’s day to teach a new craft.
Wednesday - Today the children learn a little about cooking.
Thursday - This is Science experiment day for the little scientists.
Friday - It is Book Club day today!
Many of these activities will have costs involved. For example, the craft, cooking and science supplies. Have a discussion group and decide on a budget.
Playgroups are a great way to teach preschoolers how to socialize and share. They are also great for moms to find friendships as well. You can share your talents as mentioned in the idea above, share babysitting duties for date nights with your spouse, and share ideas and advice between moms.
Dads can take advantage of the playgroup as well. The children can get together with their fathers for a fun day at the park, Dads can choose a day to share their talents with the children, or the braver fathers can have a camping trip (even in the back yard).
This is a wonderful opportunity for children to find different interests and learn new skills.
