Why now is the time to get your investments back on track

If your savings and investments have taken a dramatic nosedive in the last few months, take heart. With Capital Gains Tax no longer a problem for many – at least for the moment – now’s the time to get them back on track.

The advice comes from Simon Ludden, financial planning manager at leading regional law firm Furley Page – one of only a handful of legal firms across the UK to offer independent financial advice*.

Simon explains: “Last year saw investment portfolios fall alarmingly as grim economic data was released on an almost daily basis. Although this was bad news for investors, it does give many the opportunity to reassess their portfolios.

“Capital Gains Tax has always been an obstacle to restructuring investment portfolios so this is the time to seek proper independent financial advice to make sure you have the best long-term investments to suit your circumstances.”

But don’t just take Simon’s word for it. Furley Page’s highly qualified financial services team – based in Canterbury - has got the seal of approval from the Financial Times for the quality of its independent financial advice. It rated Furley Page top out of the Canterbury law firms it contacted recently in a telephone survey.

On its business website FTAdviser.com the ‘mystery shopper’ targeted Canterbury’s independent financial advisers on the best options for medium-term investments. The firm received 29 out of possible score of 35 for its response to specific criteria - and Ruth Dolan, the team’s chartered financial planner, was singled out for her specialist knowledge.

The ‘shopper’ praised her friendly manner; excellent communication skills; knowledge on investments, and her solid and sensible advice and guidance.

Furley Page’s website scored five out of five for its presentation.
