Left over food can not only make the water dirty quicker, but it can hold bacteria that can affect the health of the fish which will in turn hamper the breeding process.
In order for you discus fish to breed successfully, they will need optimum water conditions which a pH balance of at least 6.5 and a water temperature which should always be around 86 degrees. This is because discus fish come from warm waters in their natural environments and will thrive and breed better if they are given the best living situations.
